Top 12 as a show is an arbitrary number for any competition, and we're moving far beyond it. Providing value for the corps, the members, the attendees and the streaming audience far outweighs the historical precedent, I think.
Mike
How about we do 3 days all the Corps. Day 1 Prelims everybody competes same as usual. Day 2 semis everybody puts on a show again - but only the top 25 scored in competition, everyone below is exhibition. Day 3 finals everybody puts on a show again - but only the top 12 (or 15) scored in competition, everyone below is exhibition.
That way when we go to 3 shows, we can catch everybody, and always have more chances to see everyone (not just the elites) more than once.

They're really talented but I can't watch Mandarins, tell me when it's over. 🤢
(The spinning gets me queasy) I'll just listen, best of luck @Chief Guns 😆

Spartans show is an OC monster. See it twice today.

Boston kinda got screwed, effectively being pushed out of the last block of corps and having “special recognitions” right after their show.
On the plus side, everyone will see BAC while they're tuning in early (so they don't miss Ultimate Drill Book).

How was Spartans’ run?
Solid Championship run from my Flo perspective.

I'm unsure the point. Gold has not come close to Spartans in any of those meetings.
I think maybe they were misunderstanding (like I did at first) the phraseology of the statement "Gold and Spartans head into Prelims tied in the overall rankings, however Spartans is undefeated and has not been really challenged head-to-head all season long."
When I first read it I misunderstood it to say Spartans have not gone head to head with Gold all season long. Then I re-read it and realized you were saying that Spartans haven't really been challenged in the head to head matchups.

Wow, Spartans! I don't know what I watched, but I liked!
It took me a while to understand. But it's a really great concept.

Oh man! One of the color guard just fell off a prop.
Hope they're okay. Didn't see it.

I was going to say last time I saw them was pre covid and I could have sworn they were up there in numbers like Legends.
I think the biggest I saw them was in 2018. They were top 6 OC that year, and finished in placement just below Spartans and Legends.

Covid hurt 7th or are there new groups around pulling their people?
I know they are being conservative by keeping a smaller corps and reduced tour size to keep costs down since covid

7th does a really great job with this show considering how few brass they have. They get a lot out of a little.

Good job Les Stentors. Excellent live vocals (imho all vocals should be live).
Am I correct in thinking music is from Les Miz? Sadly not familiar with it.Yes, I saw them at Fairfield, it was Le Mis.

Is Eclispe exhibition?
They are Soundsport. They may be working towards OC membership, I think this is the first year they fielded a program.

Congratulations to all the Corps that were able to get here. It's great to see Columbians added to the mix. Hopefully next year we'll see the return of a few that couldn't make it. Some of you have come a great distance which speaks good things of the strength of your organizations.
(Also - It's pretty cool that the Northeast corridor consistently manages to get four OC corps to pretty much every Championship - proud of them)
This and tomorrow is my favorite DCI event, I wish I was there.

I was going to use a term we use in the military when we have to crowd people into small spaces or areas, but Lord knows in 2023 I might trigger someone and get banned from DCP lol.
NTB?

Wow, all this talk about crowds in the movie theatre. I've been to 3 of these BLL events and the theatre is always empty where I am. But then, the broadcast is at a theatre in the boonies of CT. Also, getting someone to go with is always hard:
"The movies, sure! What are you going to see?"
"So it's marching band...for how long...4 hours?"
"Oh wait...I forgot...I'm busy that night. I'm sorry."
I mean, even my DCI alumnus son probably won't go. He's moved on to marriage, family, work, and all that other stuff lol.

Schedule was released, Mandarins officially in front of Phantom for rankings!
Is there a list showing who who I'll see at Big, Live, and Loud this year, or is that still TBD?

Yes! 🙂

I guess it's officially canceled. My wife said they are leaving early for the next stop on tour.

My wife is there with a corps, says the weather is not looking good. 😕

Asking as a native of the Nutmeg State … I think this is first DCI show in that state since a weather-canceled show in New Haven in 2014, but maybe there’s been once since I was not aware of?
I've been attending events since 2016. None in CT all that time. So, you're probably right.

Planning to go to this. My first and maybe only show this year. We'll see...still undecided.
I thought Jersey Surf was World Class? Did they move back to open?
Also, this is unusual. Gold travelling all the way for a CT show...wow.

Ah sure, but those are just a lot of intelligent and common sense practical reasons why it wouldn't work.
But it'd be great for me. I could go get popcorn when anyone is on the field, and still have two more chances to catch the show. 😄
