Fun fact: The bleachers here in Zionsville had no numbers. So DCI had to put a line of plastic tape down the center of each bleacher row, then place sticker on the plastic with the seat numbers.

I hope they made them roomy.  I’m tired of being crammed in a space adequate for a skinny 12 year old.  I’m looking at you Mason high school.

I hope so.  I'm not sure when we will see Bloo match up to SCV.  I know they will meet up with Devils soon... but the Devils are a few shows removed from Vanguard now.  So even if Bloo pulls of a win against BD, it won't be terribly definitive.  SCV is pulling lone contender numbers and margins now.  We'll see. Fingers crossed, but if a corps leads in 4 or more captions against the field, they will be better off.

Yeah, it's a bit of a drive for me (around 9 hours), so going by myself, I'd probably fly. I've been just about everywhere around Indy since we first came in 2008, stayed downtown...and had to go to Bloomington for Finals!

Yep, us, too.  It’s three hours away.  I can’t think of why we wouldn’t go.  Driving farther to St. Louis Saturday.

Ah, who am I kidding? I’ll be there. I have just got kind of tired of making the same trek every year. My friends stopped going with me because they are casual DCI fans, but after 6-7 or whatever years didn’t want to go anymore. They were Indianapolis’d out. I went by myself two years ago, and it was fun but not the same without my buddies. My son came with me last year, but he’ll be out of the country this year. I can’t deny my weakness...nay, addiction, for getting my face blasted off in the Colts fan section.

I’m sick of Indy, too but it’s relatively close so we can drive.  I do try to find new places to explore.  Broad Ripple is fun.  Found Mass Avenue last year.  Lots of great places there.

I get in on Wednesday too. My first stop after checking into the hotel has been the Indiana State Fair, and will likely be the case this year. I usually arrive mid afternoon though my flight is arriving earlier this year. Usually I stay outside of the city and if I don’t drive (which I have done), I rent a car,  but I’m staying downtown this year (hotel costs more but it’s less expensive overall, no rent a car fees or parking fees), so might hit  Shapiro’s before the fair.

I have to get to Shapiro’s this time but dinner Wednesday is here:  http://www.eaglerestaurant.com/

Yes i agree. The first part is her dream, an anxiety dream of performing, hence the big surreal chairs. Plus if you watch her in the first movement she doesnt sing but acts out lots of fearful expressions and nerve. The music also is full of tension and is discordant. The 2nd part is the build up to actually performing, the feeling of just taking a risk, getting over fear and going for it. The song she sings is of gambling, taking a chance, going for it. They then carry her back to where she started and she performs God Bless the Child which she only imagined in the beginning. And then out come the real chairs, the real ones, ones everyone can sit in, not the big ones of her dream. And the music soars and is stunning, and her performance shines. The last part seems to me to be the exhilaration one feels after a great performance.

    I love this. :inlove:

A wise man once said on Sunday: "Well we are in 2018 now and he's gone, so we can move on from that. No point crying over spilled milk." :-)

I agree.  Time to put “that guy” in the rear view mirror.  Healthier and speeds up the healing process.

That is so cool! I wish I could remember for sure. Good chance it was '78. I remember someone playing Copeland and I remember a guard with long skirts but I don't know which year those memories are from or if was my first show or subsequent years. The biggest memory is of 'feeling' the glorious sound from all the corps and I fell in love.

That was Santa Clara if that’s  you really remember. They won the big show that year.  We wore really tall hats.
