  1. Giving this a bump. We really need these horns. Any help would be much appreciated.
  2. If you're playing a song written in treble clef for a Bb instrument, you will play a minor third above what is written, adding three flats (lots of practice with Tubachristmas). Now, if you want to play what is written on the Euphonium part on your G horn and make the piano player change keys, they would go down a minor third and remove three flats. In the end, the piano part would have one less flat than the G horn part. So... If the Bb Euph part is in Eb, then the piano part has 5 flats. Take five away and now it's in C for the piano player. I'm sure they won't be opposed to that friendly key. :P That's how I'd do it.
  3. Of course, every corps wants "MORE CONTRA!" We would certainly welcome another. Now, if we could just get the judges to stop calling them "TUBAS", we'd be in good shape. :sshh:
  4. RCC is really not a great place for a show right now. The field was great, but the stands are way too small. They were about 3/4 full when we (Dream) went on. Then with the box offset from the 50, I caught myself several times point my horn in the wrong direction (and I'd imagine there were many other times I didn't notice). The crowd respose was great though. It was nice to see so many people showed up early enough to see us. I'll just have to remember when we go back out there in a couple weeks to oil my valves before before heading to the field. I've never had all three valves stick in a show before.
  5. The weather was great, but February is way too early to be getting sunburned. The back of my neck and legs are fried!!!
  6. Anyone happen to notice the faces of the guard and drumline when we played through the first two tunes of the show at the end of rehearsal Sunday? I always enjoy that. :P
  7. I voted for 87. I just saw it for the first time tonight (heard it a hundred times). Wow, that was a cool show.
  8. In 2003 I joined SoCal Dream at the age of 31. They called me "the kid"!! :P
  9. It could have been either year. This year there were two contras. Last year there were 6 or 7, including one guy on a Bb. We were in about the same place (late both times).
  10. We had about 200 in L.A. Sunday night. Only two contras though. Might have a couple more next weekend in Riverside.
  11. Well, this isn't really urgent right now. We have 5 K-90s and we're only using two right now. I just figured if someone had one sitting around collecting dust, I could put it to good use.
  12. I'm sorry about the problems with the website. If my website is down, email me and I'll send you the files. They are about 2mb each. tubadon2000@yahoo.com
  13. OK, Tubadon.com is back up. I had some technical difficulties, but a new CPU fan seems to have done the trick. Sorry about the inconvenience.
  14. I have the TubaChristmas music in G on my website. http://tubadon.com/Tubachristmas.htm
  15. We should have a good size contra line at the LA (Glendale) TubaChristmas, including a p/r, a couple K-90s, a couple DEGs and there were some kids out there with Kanstul Bb contras last year. Hopefully we don't get hidden off to the side like last year.
  16. Anyone got a second valve for a K-90 sitting around collecting dust? Perhaps someone who has converted to three valves? I just need the piston itself. I've got the stem and cap. Thanks, Don Burns SoCal Dream Drum & Bugle Corps Los Angeles, CA
  17. This is the third weekend in a row with nothing Dream related to do. I think I'm having withdrawals. :sshh:
  18. You guys are being pretty mean to Sam...I like it. :P Sam, if I were you I'd be finding a way to get to the Open House. I know you don't work a typical 9-5 job, but there's gotta be a way.
  19. They just don't make 'em like they used to.
  20. I've spent a lot more on tour with Dream than I ever did with VK. Plus, with VK that was 6 weeks where for Dream it's just two weekends a year.
  21. Are you sure we want to use both of them in one shot?
  22. That brings me to another question. Does anyone care if minicorps do drill or not? We had about 20 pages of drill (I say pages, but it wasn't that formal) in our show. I have no idea if that helped or hurt our score, but it sure was more fun marching than just standing. I'm wondering if those in the stands enjoy seeing drill in the minicorps show.
  23. Update Dream/Baritone
  24. Brad is an elitist...and he knows it. That's good! I can appreciate that. The drill is easier this year and my ankle thanks you (not so sure Wayne feels the same way, though). Speaking of brainfarts, I had a couple on Sunday. I think someone spiked my bottled water.
