  1. We have 5 K-90s all in decent shape. Last night was the first night we didn't have any on the field. While they are great horns to play, the music we play really needs a third valve. Members of the corps own 3 3-valve Degs and one Kanstul.
  2. I have a 1G myself that I used to use playing 5th bone (lots of Kenton tunes). Funny thing is, I actually need that big mouthpiece for one part of the show. :P
  3. Looking for a 3 valve G Euphonium. I'd like to find a Kanstul mainly because I don't know what else is out there. Suggestions/recommendations welcome. Thanks. tubadon2000@yahoo.com
  4. Anyone have an extra lead pipe sitting around for a G DEG Super Magnum 3 valve contra. Mine has a custom lead pipe from Empire Statesmen that's about an inch wider than normal. Works great for me since my shoulders are 10 feet wide, but not for other "normal sized" people. Thanks. tubadon2000@yahoo.com
  5. We had a contra spin in our show last year. Of course the camera missed it. Spins are easy with K-90s, but a little tougher with a DEG.
  6. Prices have been reduced to $300 each.
  7. Looks like these horns might fit the budget of some people out there. These horns were great to have around in a pinch (like when our horns were stuck on a truck 1500 miles away).
  8. Dream Drum & Bugle Corps is selling two G contras. Contras for Sale any info requests can be sent to info@socaldream.org
  9. I don't know about Bb Tubas, but my DEG G 3 valve contra is 35 lbs. I noticed the difference immediately compared to the K-90. You must have added some weights to that DEG. Dynasty's 3-valve contra (G) is 16 lbs. 4oz., and the 4-valve (G) is 25lbs. This comes directly from the Dyansty web site's product specifications. By comparasin, the Dynasty Bb tubas are 16 lbs. for the 3-valve and 25lbs. for the 4-valve. As for Kanstul, here's their specs: Kanstul G Contra Bass Bugle (KCB 201) - 18lbs, Kanstul G Contra Grande Bass Bugle (KCG 200) - 26lbs. Kanstul G Contra Grande Bass Bugle (KCB 200/4) - 28lbs. Kanstul's 5/4 Bb Marching Tuba weighs in at 24lbs. I weighed my horn today. It was 31 lbs. without the mouthpiece. For some reason I remember weighing it when I first bought it and it was about 35, but it's definitely not the 16 pounds the DEG site shows. Even the old Baby Degs from the 80's aren't that light. Maybe someone added a bunch of extra braces to my horn. Good, I'll need 'em. I've never been a big Cavies fan, but I give props to their contra line for being able to stay on two feet with their insane drill.

  11. I bought one a couple weeks ago at Fry's for $50. Normal price was only about $80.
  12. YES!!! That was the first line I thought of. Of course there was the Star 16 in '92. And every BD line.
  13. Last season it would make us cringe every time we heard a judge on a tape call us "Tubas". Of course if they said something negative about the "Tubas" we woud just say "Good thing we don't have any Tubas!"
  14. I made one with that picture. It's on the website also.
  15. I put it on our web page. Feel free to use it.
  16. Beer??? I remember you Soos and Steve on the road to LMS4 last year! no comment
  17. You obviously have no concept of what motivates a Contra player. That's what we live for! I don't care if I have to breathe 10 times to play one note as long as I can play the note. Must have three valves Must have three valves Must have three valves Must have three valves Oh...wait...I already do!!! My DEG may be a POS, but my POS has 3 valves!
  18. Kanstul offers a conversion kit for $825 It will convert the 2 valve King K-90 to a three valve contra. I was told these are only for P/R horns, not K90s.
  19. Just a reminder we have camp this weekend at Loara High School. Sops and Baris. Sops and Baris. Sops and Baris. Sops and Baris. Sops and Baris. Sops and Baris. Sops and Baris. Sops and Baris. Hope to see lots of Sops and Baris there.
  20. I am done transposing all the Tubachristmas music. Merry Tubachristmas
  21. Tubachristmas Music In G As I have stated in the Senior forum, Tubachristmas requires you to have a book or buy a book. You will probably still have to buy the book even though you can't use it. I don't want anyone thinking I'm trying to take money away from Tubachristmas (if I were, I'd be charging for the G music). I just want to make it so we can participate. Merry Tubachristmas
  22. Check out the Tubachristmas Webpage for locations and dates.
  23. I actually ordered the Tubachristmas music yesterday so I could transpose it to G for the Dream contra section. We'll be in San Pedro on Dec. 13th. It should be interesting.
