  1. Ah waiting for scores can sometimes be the most fun. There were some events back in high school in which my best memories from the day were actually from the wait for scores (other than performing the actual show itself of course)
  2. Definitely glad this show isn't happening somewhere in Mississippi or Alabama tonight, big storm system moving through the two states. Nice MCS.
  3. There is a dying storm complex to your northwest, and the lower level jet kicks in diurnally in the plains, and can sometimes come on fast and strong. That gulf fetch helps cool the evening off but it can prove annoying for band members.
  4. You guys totally predicted it…just wrong song LOL
  5. Imagine if we got Narduar into Drum Corps. Man those interviews would be so iconic. Even if he moves away from his classic knowing too much about a single person move and treat it like a general interview with his personality as he did with the first Kurt Cobain interview. That would just be legendary. Tough EMC would suffice lol.
  6. Interestingly enough it’s almost as if Crown is *encouraging* fans to record this year. They’ve reposted and shared almost every single video recorded of them in person on their Instagram this year. All show chunks, doesn’t matter. Crown shows on YouTube aren’t even being taken down. I wonder
  7. No wonder I immediately thought cadets when I saw the closer drill for the first time earlier this summer r/woooooosh
  8. I had no idea Sacktig was the writer for Between Angels and Demons (my favorite show all time so I feel even more disgraced lol). I just know how much people have complained about his writing while he’s been with crown (though I must say I’ve always been confused about that sentiment because all I’ve seen is genius drill writing, especially from Beast forward).
  9. Okay I’m going to probably really be showing my age here, but specifically what do you mean by this “gift?” I know that Zengali is legendary, but I need to be enlightened a bit on this part lol.
  10. Okaaaay blue. Your show has officially grown on me a LOT! (That ending was a little weird though). I think if they turn down the voiceover a little bit more, maybe take out a few pieces here and there to let the hornline and guard drive the show a little more, it will pop a lot more for me.
  11. I’ve gotta say that Keytar is utilized perfectly in this show. I really like that moment, and that pains me to say when I usually prefer no external instruments in drum corps other than trombones and pianos haha. (Flugels don’t count, they have always been a part of DCI)
  12. You are correct, I just DEEPLY wish someone performed it as a ballad in a show. There’s a concert band tune that was inspired by that tune that slows the melody down a bit and I feel like a drum corps arrangement of THAT would just be perfect, especially in a well produced show. Polye Polyushka and Moscow, 1941 (Brian Balmages) are two of my favorite pieces of all time. That melody wrenches my heart every time I hear it. So haunting…so much emotion poured into one melody. The way that they utilized that piece in Animal Farm worked perfectly for the show, however. I love it to death, even if it’s not technically the ballad lol.
  13. Polye Polyushka from Animal Farm, though not their best year execution wise, is still one of my favorite moments all time in DCI.
  14. Oh yeah that’s going to be FUN trying to teach the public 😂
  15. Typically bands start their band camps the last week in June, but due to UIL restrictions they aren’t allowed to learn any competitive show drill prior to August 1st. Most bands take that first week before august to hammer fundamentals, with some bands producing a small fun show to get the kids engaged and already learning field spacing, dynamics, and everything in a much more toned town way.
  16. I can’t read that without hearing the song ‘16 tons’ lol.
  17. Oh good for you! Mind DMing me which office you work for by chance? Over 30 years with the NWS is a long time. I hope you are still enjoying it just as much as when you first started. Would love to see you at the next Chasercon in Midwest City next year!
  18. Most of this is directly caused by evapotranspiration from the corn. There are actually many papers written on the sometimes major effects evapotranspiration from corn has on severe weather. Us storm chasers call it “Corn Sweatin’ Season”
  19. Also, I need to slow down and check for typos more when I’m responding from my phone. So many abysmal mistakes from my fat thumbs 😂
