  1. Glad to be back and very excited to work with Jason again and now Rob. Lots of cool stuff in store for 2010! Always expect the unexpected with the Bushwackers...but one thing you can bank on is that we're going to continue to entertain and challenge our members. You're going to love this show so much...you just might want to be IN it. :) www.bushwackers.org
  2. Woo! Welcome to the team, Pete...and welcome back everyone else. More announcements to come soon. Lots of exciting things going on with the Bushwackers. Jump on board in 2010!!!
  3. I'm glad you guys like it. I'm really excited about what's going on with the corps, and this website is just scratching the surface. Thanks again for the great feedback.
  4. An official announcement from the corps will be coming in the near future.
  5. The Bushwackers used the IYM Mouthpiece in 2009. The horns we used had some projection issues, and the IYM helped with that. We tried a bunch, but they worked the best for the set up we had in 2009. This may change in 2010 depending on equipment and whatnot, but I definitely like them...although you definitely have to play on them a lot, but once you get used to them it's very nice.
  6. Congrats to Myron and to the Regiment. Myron has a unique voice in the drill writing world, and I look forward to seeing another one of his creations this summer.
  7. Hey. If you work for a program, you know how much of a help it would be if more of the kids took private lessons outside of school. Also, if you've ever gone into college as a music major you know how much of a leg up you would have had if you had just taken some general music theory, score reading, etc lessons. Have your students contact us at kilian.lessons@gmail.com or by going to www.cekiliandesigns.com/lessons.html If you need a flyer for your room, let me know. If you're interested in picking up a few lessons if I get them, let me know. All of our lessons are on-site...at the home of the student or at their school. Band directors can contact us too for group rates if they want us to help service the program as a whole. As usual, we're always available for marching band clinics, drum major clinics (I can save them even now if they're that bad!), and more. Just let me know.
  8. I found out from a few of the staff members after prelims. On Sunday morning I informed the Bush Brass Line about Geoff's passing, and it certainly shook all of us. As I told them, while we're competitors on the field, off the field we all share in the brotherhood of drum corps...we respect everyone because they're out there doing what we do...sweating, sacrificing, and striving to be the best at what they do. When something like this happens to one of our own, we feel it and we extend our greatest sympathies to Geoff's family, his Buccaneer family, and all of his friends. Chris Kilian The Bushwackers
  9. Cooler weather will be great for the performers. Remember...we are wearing long pants and long sleeves! The sound should travel very well in the low humidity and cooler temperatures. Better bring a tuner, though. 20 degree differences in highs and lows could be rough on brass tuning. It's going to be a great weekend!
  10. I'm a huge Jim Prime fan, and I'm excited that I'll get to hear a world class DCI corps performing his arrangements again. :)!
  11. Glad you caught that. It's become a bit of a tradition for us at the last show before finals. We performed with a lot of emotion at both performances. We have a good group who really believes in themselves and the show. It's a pleasure to be a part of it. Good luck to all next weekend. We hope the Rochester crowd is ready for a really entertaining weekend of drum corps.
  12. There are a lot of people on DCP available to teach band camps, work clinics, teach during the season, etc...so feel free to post here if you're available...or if your band is in need of something. Let's help hook fellow drum corps folks up with jobs. It's good for the activity and for us as individuals! Personally, I am available to teach camps, clinics, and student leadership workshops. If you think your band could really use someone to come in once, twice, nine times and work with your student leaders...I'm your guy. I have experience, I have a program, and I have a proven track record of success working with drum majors and other leaders. Aside from that, I'm versitile. I can work with your brass or woodwinds, as I play both and have experience instructing both. I can also run visual rehearsals from up top, or I can be a kick a** field tech. That's just fine with me. So...if you're looking for an extra hand during band camp, want to bring in an extra set of eyes and/or ears, need your show finished quickly because your designer failed you, need music or drill fixed, or if you need someone to make your drum major super-awesome...let me know. Email me at kilian.chris@gmail.com. P.S. If you work somewhere and you use freelance writers, data analysts, or other geeky boring tasks, consider me as well. I have experience in these areas and would love to pick up some extra freelance work while getting my own business off the ground. Thanks!
  13. I have a Yamaha "Stadium Hardware" snare stand for sale on Ebay...not sure if anyone here is interested in that sort of thing, or if you teach a program that might need one. It's the older model with some scratches and whatnot, but it works great and I'm getting rid of it for over half off what you'd probably pay most places. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=160352385390 If that link doesn't work just PM me or email me and we'll work it out.

  17. Many people involved with the marching arts own their own businesses or freelance as designers, instructors, uniform designers, etc. Advertising that is targeted to your audience is key to making your business a success. 19. The Penns Grove High School Red Devil Marching Band is looking for a color guard instructor and a marching battery instructor. The band has already started rehearsals for the 2009 season and needs to fill these positions immediately. While there is some talent in these sections, the experience level is relatively low. This is a perfect opportunity for someone looking to use their vision and talents to help build a program into something special and really leave their mark. The band is located in South Jersey in Carney's Point. 334 Harding Hwy Carneys Point, NJ If you are interested in more information or would like to refer someone to us, please contact Dena Kilian, Director of Bands, at dkilian@pennsgrove.k12.nj.us ASAP. Thank you.
