  1. My ex wife's biggest complaint was that we could not go anywhere without me running into someone I know from drum corps!
  2. Kenny and Walt were the snareline the year I marched toms. Hindsight, I should have done what I wanted to do which was quit BDR and go to Westshore. Lot of things that happened and personal feelings and dealings soured me on BDR. I also would have loved the chance to march with Donnie Lee. I know how funny he was as an instructor so I can just imagine how he was in corps.
  3. Ohio is rebuilding their service plazas. Really nice, tons of room inside and out and food choices. Take notice I didn't say fast. That's the only downside. Ben, did you hear about Virginia's plan to make I95 a toll road?
  4. to everyone bringing us the DCA finals, thanks for the hard but outstanding work being done in the pressbox, along with the humor interjected by everyone else along the way. Really makes me feel like we are there even though we are on our way to another delivery. The freight charge to ship Kevin to Annapolis would be on us. It's nice to have your own truck! :-)
  5. I would like to tip my hat to Reading for the incredible run they have had these last few years. After seeing this corps on the verge of folding quite a few years ago, to hang in there and take the lumps that come with down years to come back and put the shows together that they have done the last few years I would like to say thank you. This shows you what hard work and patience can do. To MBI, congrats on doing what everyone tried to do the past few years but have not been able to do, bring the pirate ship into port. The true winners tomorrow night are going to be everyone that goes to finals. Every corps there is going to throw done the best performance they are capable of doing. Good luck to everyone!
  6. Ben, if you wait long enough tomorrow, you might be able to dive in your back yard.
  7. Jeff, no problem. I figured too much smurf juice. Bob, since I'm on the road, I have to use the phone to check in when I get a chance. We just went through Connecticut and I kept thinking the something, "look out the window." ($1 to Fran)
  8. Would love to go but we are still in Salt Lake City waiting for a load out of here.
  9. 1981, being my first year in a "Sr" corps, was a lot of fun but a big learning experience as well. Made tons of friends most of which I can keep in touch with due to this page as well as Facebook. I agree Ben, 1982 was a breath of fresh air which IMHO also gave us an identity. It was a fun book to play and the corps was solid. I'll never forget Steve Fillipelli's response when he heard them announce Cabs in second place, "Holy s###, We won this f###### thing!!" He was in total shock as was a few others on the field, both in the ranks of Westshore and others in other corps as well. All things considered, our real achilles heel was the drumline. We played as well as we could with the staff we had but quite honestly, there was pretty much no one who could hold a candle to Sun's drumline. It really would be interesting if we could have played the 83 book with the 82 corps! I'll comment on 1983, 1992 and 1993 when we get there. (Hello, BigW are you out there??)
  10. A few of them were busted for smoking herb and underage drinking. The rest of the story I got from a buddy in security that year was that the one kid could not make the $300 fine so he could be released. The next in line paid his fine and the one for the kid before him so they both would be released. I know Hershey will not have them back due to "issues" with the phans.
  11. Let me know about two weeks in advance so we can get a load going to Harrisburg, then we can go as well
  12. I cried last night because I could not be there. I would have cried had I been on stage with everyone. Ruth, please let me know about a cd of last night's show.
  13. Bear, have a safe drive to Pittsburgh! My heart goes out to you and Dave tonight and I will keep you all in my prayers as well. It was as much an honor as it was a pleasure to not only play as an ensemble with everyone, but also to get to know each of you all and share the fun off the field as well. As close as the four of you were, you also made everyone else who was in the pit feel like a part of your family as well. Unfortunately, due to my new position, I will not be able to make it to the funeral. I will be there in spirit! Sandy, thanks for all the great memories over the years!
  14. Another one who has been called to the great field in the sky. Dave, Hairbear, I'll keep you guys in my prayers. Glad I was able to perform with Sandy in 1993 with the competitive corps and then again on stage with the alumni corps.
  15. E-card sent. That idea rocks!! Sandy, hope to see you at SIB!
  16. Was diagnosed with liver cancer from what Bear told me. Sandy is going to be undergoing chemo. Keep him in your prayers please!
  17. Well, it's not too bad except we are stuck at a truckstop in Oklahoma since it appears they have no clue how to spread salt and anti-skid material after a storm. We are on our way from Clinton, CA to Henderson, NC with a load of fruit for Walmart.
  18. Sorry I did not make it to the rehearsal today as I working a new job. I recently got my CDL and now driving 18 wheelers coast to coast with my wife. At this point in time, I am not sure we will not be able to attend the last SIB. We will try to make it though, will have to keep everyone posted.
  19. I thought it went like this: Daaaa na na na naaaaaaaaaa Daaaaa daaaa daaaaaaaaaaaaaa............ Daaaa na na na naaaaaaaaaa Penalty Man!!!!!!!!
  20. Please keep us posted on how she is doing and send her get well wishes on our behalf!!
