  1. How could you not like 98 Cadets? Thats probably the cleanest marched drill show in DCI history. I remember when they passed BD in 98. It was Great!
  2. I actually called my sister in law on this one who is in BD's guard this year. Show is based on a poem of a man walking the line with ups and downs in his life. Guy is obvisouly in the process of falling with PVC pipe display and by the end he completly falls off the tight wire. I don't think they're done with the creativeness of this show and can't wait to see it at Finals.
  3. How could I forget about Hunter and Alan! Jim Ott and Freddy Martin working together just brilliant. Anyone ever heard of the volume dynamic WHITE HEAT! Freddy explained this to us in 01 and said the judges told them they weren't playing loud enough. So when they played Georgia they called the dynamic WHITE HEAT :-) also related to BYFBO :-) Anybody seen "One Night in August"?
  4. I love the New Era year in 01 at the end. One of my good friends Ozzie marched the guard that year and aged out. I loved how the girl in front was high mark timing and saluted. SO SCV!!! JuST HOT
  5. I think this is a really good question. For starters equal contribution from each player in the hornline. I have seriously heard some 16 member hornlines that I have liked better than some of the top 12 corps in the past. Mainly because the balance and control from each player and how much you can tell the kids enjoy what they are doing. Really everyone BUYING into the technique (Breathe DAH) or whatever the technique for that corps. Phantom, Cadets, Crown and BD all have great hornline developers so to speak. Between Crown, BD and Phantom I forsee one of these 3 corps taking the Jim Ott this year. If I had to choose it would be Crown because they show not only their ability to blow you through the wall but how graceful and elegant a hornline can sound. Also, everykid in that hornline you can tell they're working hard to convey not only the arrangers music but the rest of the design team as well. Phantom comes in a very close second with the trumpet trill in the opening statement. MAN I Love IT!. BD I guarantee you that none of their hornline memeber are under 18. The hornline just sounds so MATURE and rich. I would check their drivers liscence to make sure they're not letting age outs march lol. All Time favorite would be Cadets 2000 of course because the hornline had so much fun that year with GINO. Also, Star Close encounter with the 3rd Kind theme and 93 was Amazing. Really they Introduced DCI to THE WALL OF SOUND concept :-) GO D. VANDOREN!!! So many favorite hornline years its hard to list. Harmonic Journey Phantom Regiment. Cadets 98 -01 JUST WOW. Crown 03-Current BD 99 and 03. Garfield Cadets Rocky Point Holiday...Etc.. Etc.. J. Hunt Phi Mu Alpha O.A.L.L. Master Mason Lodge 305 Spirit Contra 98 Crown Contra 99 Cadet Contra 00 Spirit Contra 01
  6. The guy second from the right looks like Jon Mongiovi with a tan and hair lol...The older guy could pass for Ossian E Mills. Do tell who is in the picture I'm curious now :-) Alll Hail OAS AAS LLS Phi Mu Alpha Master Mason Lodge 305 Founder of Epsilon Chi Nu Beta Chapter Spirit Contra 98 Crown Contra 99 Cadet Contra 00 Spirit Contra 01
  7. George Hopkins is the BEST director in DCI. You obviously haven't done your Hopkins research. He's not some flash in the pan. Until you've dedicated your life to a drumcorps, stayed with them through the good/bad, brought them out of financial burdens, lead them to 9 world championships, etc... etc...George isn't going anywhere. ~Holy Name~
  8. I'm not upset they're beating Cadets it's more of the fact that they're beating Glassmen and Bluestars. Cadets have nothing to prove. They're performing at the highest level possible of any drumcorps on the feild. Also, when you've been up since 7am and stay up until 4am posting on DCP grammatical errors are bound to happen.... MR. I've got my PHD in English. My favorite show is Framework, Robot, 007 so it has nothing to do with not liking Cavis. Its just way overdue for them to be passed by PR, Crown, Cadets, BlueStars and SCV. Should've happened last night! Spirit Contra 98 Crown Contra 99 Cadet Contra 00 Spirit Contra 01
  9. Just wondering if anyone else has the share the same views WUUSAAA WEEYAA lol If I had a high school band I would defanitley be doing a Samarui show next year. I wonder how many kids from Yakimoto want to march Cavies next year GOOO BLUESTARS
  10. Obviously I have heard of the "drug" problems of Roger and Barry and I knew what he was referring 2. Again my statement says They are the best at what they do and publicity is good for anyone in any sport. Are you saying the Cadets Design team should be drug tested? Maybe George should try to get that rule passed for next year. ALL Members including Staff of any corps should be drug tested. Lets just say the design quality could perhaps go 2 far down to keep the drumcorps activity alive. I know they're putting something in Crowns Koolaid to get them to play the way they're playing. It must be SPEED they put in Cadets juice. Who knows what they give Phantoms drumline. Brilliant Minds/Thinking Outside the box does not = Drug Abuse
  11. TYPO sorry Past Championship SHOW HEYAAA dom dom dom WEEEYAAA lol Crowns hornline getting 1st tonight is not a shock. They're in a league of their own this year. Bar has been RAISED and they have surpassed any Star of Indiana hornline I know. Maybe Kevin should think about changing the name to Star of Carolina Spirit Contra 98 Crown Contra 99 Cadet Contra 2000 Spirit Contra 01
  12. Why would BD need a knife :-) I'll give 100 Bucks right now for the PR knife that takes out the guard chick :-)
  13. HEYAAA dom dom dom HEYAA:ph34r: Good thing I'm not a judge...Show design is equvalient to a high school marching band show. Follow the leader jazz running boxes....In an out boxes 8 to 5. WEYAHH dom dom dom The jump over the head is a nice new move for DCI however. Maybe if the whole hornline did a backflip it might be worthy of a top 3 placement. Judges like Themes and want you to THEME for 10 minutes so they understand and cavis do it well which in turn equals there high scoring along with easy drill. Again its very VERY easy to put a high number on a dirt easy show (not calling any corps names) and very VERY easy to give lower scores to a more musically demanding, drill demanding, all around demanding show i.e Crown, Cadets, PR. IMHO Blue Stars are better than Cavis this year (Go Brad Green)
  14. EXACTLY! I'm not a big fan of MLB but i know who Roger Clemens are and Barry Bonds. Couldn't tell you another player in MLB if it was worth a million bucks right now. All I know is they are they the best at doing what they do and hitting home runs. I would say publicity is a huge factor in the success of any sport. If you know the corps song then you'll know the method behind the madness of THE CADETS. "Thy Name shall SPREAD throughout the land and Keep us safe forever more etc. etc. etc. Its the transformation process that Cadets undergo season to season thats absolutely amazing to me. Would anyone else agree that they make more changes than any other corps? Take the 01 season for example...I couldn't stand the show concept at the beginning of the season and didn't even know what was going on. By the end of the season its a show I cant help but listen to all the time. The mellophone runs in juxtaposition section etc. etc... Brilliant
