  1. Maybe... Or the judges just liked Mempho 5 points better than Vanguard tonight. Anyway, I dont know if the D2 corps "just show up". I think they work just as hard as D3 and D1. D
  2. I was thinking the spread between Vanguard and Memphis was pretty large.
  3. I just got home from work and wanted to purchase the webcast for the remainder of the day. I cant find it on DCI menu. Does anyone know where it went? Are they having difficulty? Help... D
  4. Awesome post. Funny, I was thinking the same about the quarterfinals thing. In fact, I think that there are several D2 corps that would compete very nicely with the current lower 1/3 of the D1 lineup. I also like your comments about Teal. Everybody knows I am quote biased (Teal Apologist as so aptly put by one DCP poster) but I also recognize the competition for Teal (and other corps) as some of the finest musicians out there. Nevertheless, GO TEAL SOUND.
  5. Go Teal Sound. Good Luck to all other Corps today. Convince California that the little guys can also play and march... D
  6. With sincere apologies. I certainly meant the Dutch Boy Drum Corps. I learn something new everyday. Good luck this next week. D
  7. I just really looked at this. There are some serious battles going for placements this year. I like the battle between Surf and Spartans. The battle for third place could land someone a ring or a spot somewhere around 7th or 8th place. The battle between the division 3 corps rages on with Fever and Memphis flip flopping. Dutch Boy and REVO are fighting for their spots. This is awesome. Somebody please write a review for the Bakersfield show... Thanks
  8. Updated after both days of the focus show. Sorry for any mistakes, if any. 1. Spartans- 92.050 2. Jersy Surf-91.125 3. Teal Sound- 87.500 4. SVCC- 87.250 5. Fever 86.900 6. Yokahama Scouts- 86.850 (International) 7. BDB- 86.650 8. Memphis- 86.475 9. Dutch Boy Cadets- 82.825 10. Raiders- 81.775 11. Revo- 79.900 12. OC- 77.125 13. Citations 75.275 14. Spokane- 73.025 15. Gold- 72.925 16. Impulse 72.825 17. Velvet Knights- 71.300 18. Mystikal 70.350 19. HYPE- 67.525 20. Racine- 62.775 21. Spirit of NJ- 60.150 22. BDC- 60.125 Does this show determine show appearance times in Pasadena?
  9. Teal coming on strong. Memphis is very good. Shaping up to be a battle for 2nd in D3 and this is the best D2/3 drum corps I have ever seen.
  10. Wow. Yokahama must be very strong. Wish I was going to see them but not this year. Bummer. Teal Sound is coming on now. It will be interesting to see how they match with BDB and SCVC at the upcoming focus show. I think it will be a battle between Surf and Spartans for 1st and second but 3-6 is a battle between 4 corps. BDB, Teal, SCVC, and Raiders. They are all very good this year. D2/3 is experiencing the best competition (front to back) I have ever seen.
  11. DCIDadX2 You must be vry proud of your children. Congratulations on their success in drum corps and their future success as productive citizens in this world. Drum corps has a way of churning out some really fine people and I am sure your two will be no exception. D
  12. I will agree that the 2/3 corps dont offer a product like the top level 1 corps, but some 2/3 corps would be competitive with the lower third of D1 corps. That is where most of the disparity lies. Why should a lower D1 corps generate 1700.00 for a performance (DCI) and the upper D2 corps only make 900.00. This is an example of the rich getting richer. D2 corps are spending the same type of dollars to do a tour. I was out there. It costs the same amount to feed a kid in a D2/3 corps as it does to feed a D1 kid. DCI controls the supply and demand of drum corps. That is one of the reasons they call it "marching music's major leagues" and it has become an organization for only the elite... Sorry for the rant.
  13. <**> Don't feed the troll. Close this thread. He knows this will just fire up the Mempho legion and that is what he is looking to do.
  14. At least I claim credit for Teal. You hide behind a shroud of snide, degrading remarks and claim no outward allegiance to your corps. You must be very proud. Once again, I am not going to post about this anymore because I am reducing myself to your level and giving you the Internet argument you so desire. The anonymity of the the message boards allows inadequate communicators with limited intelligence and minimal experience the opportunity to be heard.
  15. Why are you always so rude. Randy was simply referring to the fact that judges were missing from the show and you have to make a smart remark. Did you get kicked out of drum corps? If not, I am sure you were a fine long distance runner when summer was over. Show some respect around here. People have to deal with enough punks running around this country. Don't be one of them. D
  16. Big 2/3 show tonight. Lineup looks great. Teal back on the field for the first time since 7/15. Raiders scoring strong in their last performance. Mempho, and Revo are verrrry competitive and how about Dutch Boy. HYPE and the Racine Scouts will also be out there battling the other corps, the heat and lastly the elements (pray for dry weather). This looks like a great show. What are your score predictions?
  17. Me thinks these standings are going to be changing a lot over the next few weeks. SHould be great to sit back and watch it unfold.
  18. Take the Divisions out of the equation and Rosski has 1. Surf 80.3 2. Fever 78.7 3. BDB 78.6 4. OC 73.6 5. SCVC 73.5 6 Spokane 71.3 Is Fever really that good? They have been a favorite of mine but that would be some sort of an upset. I see it as follows: Surf 82.2 BDB 79.5 SCVC 76.4 Fever 74.1 OC 72.6 Spokane 69.9 But- I have been known to be wrong on occasion. Good luck to all of the corps. D2/3 will be one heck of a battle come August. That much I do know and I will not be wrong on that. D
  19. I definitely agree with the philosophy that this is not a current member. Based on everything I have ever seen from Surf they are way better at teaching their members. Their staff goes out of their way to educate their members about such things. I even remember reading somewhere that they conduct leadership training modues throughout the year. Good luck to Surf. If they do win this year, they will certainly have earned it. This is shaping up to be quite a year in D-2 and D3. I also look forward to the upcoming battles between the D2/3 corps. Even if you are not a fan of one of these corps, you better respect them, cause they are all really good. D
  20. I want some of his confidence. The older I get, the more it seems that being young and ignorant are what I miss the most. Good Luck to Surf in their quest to raise this young man. D
  21. In light on what some (that have seen several shows) have said, I will agree that Spartans are better than Teal right now. However, I was never questioning that they are (currently better). What I am (and still question) is the inconsistent scoring on these shows. Beaker (miss you, man) shows it in his post about the scores. I guess I am old school but I can't see score jumps like this (even early in the season) are justified for any corps. I think the psyche of the kids has to be messed up when they are being judged all over the place. Even if Teal jumps another 7 points on their next show I will continue to say that the scoring is inconsistent at the D2-3 level. Show me the same types of score inconsistencies in D1. There are some, but certainly not as many. D
  22. I didnt say Spartans and Revo were the best out there. I said they "may" be the best out there. Meaning that it should be settled on the field. Regarding Teal's show. It is now done, and admittedly dirty. Still, the scores are inconsistent all over the place. I point out Teal becuase I have a connection to that corps. D
  23. I know this will be controversial, but I am going to say it anyway. The scoring this year is worse than it has ever been. As a card carrying member of Teal Sound's fan club I am really disheartened. There is no way that Spartans are 12 points better than Teal this week when last week They were much closer together. At the risk of being flamed (go ahead- I dont care) I am going to say that Teal is not getting a score they deserve. last year at this time, Teal was struggling and I will admit that. However, this year the corps is much bigger an stronger. Yet they are still being scored all over the place. Not only is Teal getting a shaft, but what about Memphis? I like Revo, but a 12 point jump in four days to climb ahead of Memphis? Come on. I realize that Spartans and Revo may be the best there is out there, but I think there is something rotten in the State of Denmark... Flame away- D
