  1. Sounds like you should go start a new circuit where all corps perform the same show. I'll donate money to your cause.
  2. Is Hardball the same as Softball ? Is the NFL the same as College Football ?
  3. Better Question: How many GOOD music majors in DCI?
  4. I've noticed a lot of people labeling others as whiners or telling others not to complain about this or that. In all seriousness, is this a web forum or not. I don't see an abundance of profanity or rude remarks. Once in a while yea, but overall no. I think this is a great forum with interesting people to talk about drum corps with. I am the type that likes discussion, even if there are people disagreeing with me. Its what made this country great. Freedom of speech. Now there are people saying to "Get over" this or, "stop whining", "its rude to boo", "don't bad mouth the kids", and "you'd better not talk about this if the Cadets win!!!" Don't tell us what we can or cannot or should not talk about. If you're skin isn't thick enough to argue maybe you should've joined the debate team instead of the band in high school. Is this a web forum or not? If people want to discuss something, they should have every right to say what they want. Many people on this site and in this world are Too "sensitive" and are campaining to block certain topics. I don't agree in trying to tell people what to think or say. If you do, then youre a facsist or just a little weak minded person who doesn't have the strength to argue. I'm being totally serious and honest. I'm almost glad George Hopkins does what he does. It makes things more interesting. Look at all the great discussion its generated. Look what happened when the controversial Rosie Odonell left the show, "The View". The ratings dropped. Can you imagine a bunch of football fans sitting around a table, talking nice about NFL. "Oh lets not bad mouth anyone now, we're all here to have fun, now". And don't give me that, "But they're just kids in DCI, garbage". If it wasn't for the fans buying tickets in hopes of being entertained, there would be no DCI. I invite anyone to disagree with me or support me! By the way, that line about, "Drum Corps died 100 years ago...give me a break, that is completely irrelevant". They are talking about the drum corps they love thats dying I can just imagine you sitting there crying as you typed up this topic.
  5. Ohhp....One more thing, on my way out, I observed who seemed to march where. And yes, I am correct. Those representing certain corps from certain groups have a good understanding of whats going on here, those from the "Happy Corps" are joining Reverend Al Sharpton to go on Oprah tomorrow. "Riiiight" is a lame comeback. It shows you don't have anymore ammunition. GO SPIRIT OF JSU!!! I HOPE YOU MAKE FINALS!!!
  6. It seems that the ones who marched in truly competitive corps are the only ones who understand this situation. However there are some people here who think that Drum Corps is a Happy Go-Lucky "Learning Experience" with nothing but fun and laughter and pats on the back. Where everyone is equal and we all get along. What I'm saying is that half the people's attitudes on this forum is what is ruining drum corps. Yes, it is a Competitive experience and a Learning Experience. But it should be only one of them. If the activity focuses on good sportsmanship, just trying your best, and having a good time, it'll all go downhill. Save that crap for HS marching band. To DrumcorpsrevJackson, By the way, my corps knew our music theory before we got there. So they taught you what a 7 chord is and now youre Charlie Parker. I'm gonna make like Eric Catman and say, "Screw you guys, I'm going to go screw my Girlfriend", who btw never marched anything, "Thank God".
  7. ITS NOT A LEARNING EXPERIENCE!!!! ITS A COMPETITIVE EXPERIENCE!!! If someone wants to learn music they need to go to a music conservatory or college.
  8. To Drumcorpsharpton, BTW - I just noticed what an ignorant title, "Spirit of JSU members = No Class". And its the first one on the forum so everyone who doesn't read the forum assumes that about Spirit and their corps is hurt, because of you. Maybe we should take the whole Spirit corps onto Oprah and call your ### out! And don't contact the corps director. Unless you are going to apologize.
  9. You guys must've never marched competitive Drum Corps. Its part of the tour life to watch the other corps and deal with your frustration by knocking them. The Spirit members made the mistake of doing it in front of people. EVERY MEMBER OF EVERY CORPS BASHES OTHER CORPS. Once again, their mistake was doing it in front of you. Its not practical to expect competitors to support each other and pat each other on the back all the time. Then the competition would suck. Its stuff like this that pisses me off. Drum Corps needs to be more competitive. No more of this "Educational program for any band nerd who wants to get a good experience". When I marched (and yes I marched with a "big dog") we were out for blood and wanted to claw our way to a ring. We were in the midst of fierce competition. Many people will never know what thats like, and thats too bad for them. The activity is becoming too soft because of people like you. Soon the true spirit of it will be dead forever because of all these rule changes which make it nothing but an educational program. You remind me of the people who went after Don Imus. (And by "people" I mean "whiners") They have the right to say whatever the hell they want. Yes they should be smarter and say it on the bus. I believe you owe Spirit an apology for calling them out. You wanna call them out, call out every other corps that DOESN'T get caught talkin smack. BTW- Rename yourself Drumcorpsharpton.
