Little known fact: Original Incorporation papers for Star are in the original name for the corps. The Hoosier Assembly I saw the original announcement in the Bloomington paper and about died laughing. By first camp, all was in place and Star was on the way.

The Pride of Indiana telecast was so much better for Harvey.

'93 is my lasting impression of Drum Corps. Star at fort Mill, SC. Coming in undefeated and sounding incredible for July. Haven't been to a show since.

Just yesterday I was watching a tape from the Bloomington show, Star did not go off last that night at our home show, odd, I thought. Then it came back to me, 27th had the mother of all bus breakdowns in Pennsylvania and Bill sent Star busses to help get them to Bloomington. 27th had two Bloomington kids in that corps, Julia and Steve Brabson. I had marched with Steve in '85 and I kept in touch with him that year. Unfortunately, Julia is no longer with us, she passed away in 1989. Yes, I remember the parking lot after Finals, very touching.

We had some serious momentum going after missing finals in Allentown. (It was the only time in my five years marching that I didn't make a finals.) Really got everyone focused. The equipment and staff might have been the best money could buy, but the bottom line was the effort of the marching members. We had experiences that year that helped set the foundation fro the greatness that Star was to become.
