what about corps members who are away and already purchased plane tickets home from finals at airports near bloomington? i know my ticket home on sunday is supposed to take me home from there.....

from what i understand, almost all the bluecoats line comes from rhythm x and mystique....both really great lines. also, keep in mind the bluecoats drumline performed at PASIC this past year, so they had to have rehearsed together a bunch in preparation for that, thus giving them some extra chemistry coming into the season.

saw a short video of teal sound online today, really excited to see them out there on the road, looks like they are going to have a great year!

from that clip i understand this is only the closer. the line sounds great, dont get me wrong but yes, it is a lot of 16th roll stuff, pretty common for the ending stretch of a closer. i have heard that the other movements in the show are much more impressive and that there is a great bass feature that is resemblant of a speed bag for the "boxer"...cant wait to see that. i'm actually VERY impressed with the cadets lot video i saw on youtube....it's very traditional cadets, fast and a lot of notes and pretty clean for june. they have also managed to top themselves again with one of the best tenor features ever written. also, can anyone else verify that cavies are truly only marching 7 snares? and scv with 6 tenors?!?

um, can you justify this as sarcasm or a really strong opinion?

this is something that has been debated heavily the last 10 years or so. Drum corps is highly comparable to NCAA sports. We have the Div. 1 schools who have the huge stadiums, enormous schools and attendance, fan bases, etc. They also have the smaller div.2 and 3 schools who obviously don't make tv, don't have the huge stadiums, and don't have the ja-gungus fan base of the bigger schools. However, this isn't to say that there aren't a large number of supporting family, friends, and fans out there for these schools. This is just like the World and Open class of DCI today, and more so like the old Division 1-2-3 system. My point here being that there is a large amount of support for the Open class corps...however, just like in NCAA, we don't make TV, we don't have the same number of fans, but we do the activity for all the same reasons the "big guys" do it. We all play the same game, we just do it with less people.

cadets are really scoring high in the music captions...they broke 19's in brass and percussion. this is nuts!

completely random, but i always wonder what cuss word lies beneath those infamous "####" that we see quite often here...i guess it provides us with a means of being creative and entertain ourselves a bit more in wondering what word it is and figuring it out. lol i too share the fever, being that im not marching this year....also my g/f in bluecoats likes to keep me awake with her 2 am phones calls from the west coast. :P

usually the regular arguements about scores and placement and captions and a lot of pre season hype....its usually dead though.

btw, this is the last time we will have to wait up on a sunday night for scores. sad and exciting i guess. i always loved this night cuz its usually the last busride and the start of finals week rehearsals was only a daybreak away...

anyone going to be at the quarterfinals broadcast in NYC? and for anyone that went last year, is it worth it?

too bad theres no one there with an iphone, like that guy at the 2/3 show the other day. that was awesome up to the minute stuff.

i just bought my ticket for the big loud and live quarterfinals broadcast this thursday. ill be at the showing in NYC. anyone else? and for anyone who went last year, is it worth it?

im gonna go ahead and say that i'd bet the mix up for the top 3 spots will be cadets/cavies/bluecoats with a very close spread including crown bd and pr...probably the closest in history. i'll also say that i can bet bluecoats will win brass - however cadets will take percussion and visual captions. the academy will beat out a corps for a spot on saturday, and glassmen will turn a few heads finishing 7-9. the div 2/3 grand finals will also have an extremely shocking outcome and be exciting but not as exciting as the div 1 race at the end of next week. memphis sound is proving that size doesnt matter, and surf really has their game going this year. raiders are doing what they do best, not peaking until finals week and on a constant climb until then, and revo and spartans are doing a great job as well showing they are out for gold in their divisions. and in the spirit of Canadian hyping, i think Dutch Boy will be giving Fever and revolution a run for their money in those top spots :)
