Boy this might be an interesting thread. We all love soloists.. If they can't march because of a Handicap then yeah ok put them in the pit. I Give more props to the likes of the Rogers And Curts that marched and then stepped out of line and played just as well (if not better ) then some of the others that are able to march and don't JP

Hey Looking at Mona shore page.. They have pretty cool Uniforms or they are getting cool ones..

MIke I am in NJ also. and I find that alot of the HS bands are just going through the motions. The ones that are not just going through the motions you find some type of drum corps influence

We will never know because I don't think it will ever happen. But if given the same amount of time who knows what could happen. Again. I am just happy we have the two. Hope they both Grow and wish they would some how work together. As it was stated before DCA is not just older ageouts. there are alot of younger adults who want to do drum corps and don't have the time ,funds ,have to deal with school or have experience that is needed to do DCI.(like learning a baritone etc) I am glad those kids are willing to give DCA a shot instead of just sitting at home wishing.

OK, What do you feel the differences are. What do you tell Friends and Co workers or people that might ask because they see you wearing a Jacket, T-shirt etc. Also if you describe Drum Corps as I do to others as being some what like a High school or College marching band EXCEPT that its ALL BRASS If in the Future other instruments other than Brass were to be Adopted how would you then decribe the differences. As for me The differences are 1: All Brass 2: Degree of Difficulty of music and marchng. 3: The drive and want to is greater than some. Some people in bands are there to just get through the year and a grade. 4: The life lessons you learn 5: Kids grow up and learn to be more responsible. 6: You learn how to adapt and Go for what you want. those are a few differences.. 7: Social Skills dealing with people you like and might not like day in and day out. (ha I have that at work now and people ask me how do you put up with it. I show them behind the scenes of DC and say see try living that close with people for three months plus) But having other instruments (saxes and Flutes) just would not be Drum Corps anymore. It would just be pumped up summer Band. As I type this I can hear other people saying yeah see what you listed are good things and other kids would be missing out etc. So is that what Drum corps is to be Hard Core Summer band. I guess that is why some older folk are worried about Drum Corps as they knew it. That it will be.. " Back in the day there was this thing Called Drum Corps and it was like Summer marching band but it was Just ALL BRASS.. " This is not meant to put down High School or College Bands

I will Admit what bothers me about some Cadet fans (note Fans) is that everything cadets do is Innovative when its been done before. DrumSpeak . I guess if you mean Amped yes. Didn't BD's whole Corps do that just recently. Orginal Music that... works.. So Cavies Original music that won Championship didn't Not Knocking the Cadets. They executed the show very well and they deserve to win. After watching it a few times I am startig to get it. Sucks that it takes some of us slower folk a FEW viewings to get it but hey that is Drum Corps today I will adapt.

I Agree with the Geez Louise... I think we have lost a few of the lugs nuts on this wheel. (ok and just so everyone knows. Yeah that is true that is what happens unfortunetly. People will say did you hear what such and such from _______ corps said. Yes its Stupid but it is part of everyday. Also what is happening now is why Jeff and others say polls suck because you always have someone that says you took it the wrong way. The great thing about the internet is that you can talk to alot of people hold chats etc The bad thing is when you get some of the chats that turn into to debates etc you can't get the emotion or expression in what a person might be trying to say.. Example with me saying a simple little thing like Yeah! have a great day!!!. which way do I really mean that. So I think we should all when we read something and you think it a Bash etc.. Walk away. count to a million gazillion then come back and see. OH P.S. I wish everyone the best. Again another exciting year for DCA and Fans. Also you Corps members should know its nice to have corps that entertain you and keep you wondering what can happen during finals weekend instead of already just knowing how everyone will place. Soo much more exciting.

I think it's Tommytrumpetcontra is in like every thread posting anything and everything and it is just funny to read some of his posts. I only say that because some of his opinions have been really strong and can be taken the wrong way. Some of the strong comments are about stuff that he was either 1 or not even a Twinkle in his fathers eye. So some of his comments just make you say hmmmmm ok and you know this how? Ok he is like THAT friend that has a comment for anything and everything. (yes we all have one or two of them ) And you are in a group and something is said and then THAT person starts to something you sorta look at them like Ughh I knew you could not Not say anything. And then as you listen to what they are saying and you know its wrong you want to say shhhh stop because you know people are going to people are going to pounce just because its THAT person. Thats how I feel with TommySopranoContra. I love that he loves drum corps I love that he is passionate about cadets and others. But there are sometimes when his comments I am like uhhh no stop noo please oh darn too late.. I actually come on to see what he has said next and alot of the times I am like nice cool. then there are those.. Oh no.. cover my eyes. LIke the above..

Yeah wish we could put those shows you listed up against a DCI D1 corps only one problem.. That show would totally change when you took all the kids playing woodwinds. But then again I might be wrong they could be like, I bleive its OHIO STATE That is all Brass? :)

I guess you saying that by way of Recording or DVD's Right. since you were what 5. :P :) 96 the crowd went wild for both. Yes Phantom was probably more of a favorite just because they were sooo Darn close again and we wanted to see them win.. Even me a huge BD fan.. SO Some fans like me lucked out. Both corps were on that night.
