  5. Ghost Riders are the 2013 Mini-Corps DCA World Champions! The Ghost Riders won the title and ended a 7-year unbeaten streak by the Star United Mini-Corps. All the practices and individual effort paid off as the Ghost Riders rocked the Navy Marine Memorial Coliseum in Annapolis on the evening of Friday, August 30th. We would like to thank Star United for forcing us to "reach for the Stars" and making The Ghost Riders a better musical group. It has always been our goal to be good enough to share the "Stage" with all the Mini-Corps we competed against over the last 18 years of our existence. To win the title for 2013 was an accomplishment we will not soon forget. We enjoyed competing against Star United over the last 8 championships and are looking forward to doing so again next Labor Day weekend in Rochester, NY. We also would like to thank Star for the respect they showed us as we were moving to the Stadium and immediately after our performance.
  6. Yes Folks .... now it's my turn. What is mini corps as I see it. Everyone has said what they think it is and what has hurt it. The problems the groups have assembling personnel ... making enough money to travel .... music rights .... drill .... ect ect. are all legitimate reasons. I believe if you want something bad enough you have to have a vision, stay the course and find a way to make it happen. I am proud to say that Ghost Riders have done that consistently for 18 years now, or we wouldn't still be around. This accomplishment has had many faces who cared about the corps. Obviously I can't name them all in this text, but would be remiss, if I didn't thank each and every member and instructor we have had over the years, for their dedication. When I had the concept to assemble a mini corps in 1996 it was a desire on my part to compete again and the members followed. This was the place we could do it. With only a few rehearsals and our desire, we, the Ghost Riders of then, came in 2nd to Erie Thunderbirds with a respectable score of 89.75 and had the crowd on it's feet. Yes, we stood in a semi circle and played our hearts out. My good friend Tommy Davenport (Erie Thunderbirds Soloist) told me he watched our show, went out to his corps and told them "you better lay one down" Ghost Riders were on fire tonight". That was the beginning for us and we have not missed a DCA mini corps competition since. The FANS are the ones who have won the most, they have been treated to great shows not only by us, but by all the mini corps who have competed since the inception of the mini corps venue. When mini corps is subject to the field, as was the case last year in Annapolis and not on stage, most corps understood to be competitive, you had to do a drill. Adaptation is what is necessary, but to what result ? DCA had no choice, it was not their fault. They could not find a theater or place indoors (like Rochester) to hold the venue that seated more than 400 people. Everyone has an opinion of what it should be. I am just glad Ghost Riders will bring their show to Annapolis again this year and as Donny said in so many words "WE WILL NOT DISAPPOINT". Happy Trails !!! Doug Mellenthine Ghost Riders Director & Founder

  9. Yes, Dick Pronti is sorely missed as was Donna Ernst before him and I ditto Donny on this. Nice recognition for Dick in the DCA program, Thank You DCA. Ghost Riders would like to say congrats to STAR for yet another victory, but also a special "Thank You" for the use of their podium that evening. Ghost came off the field very satisfied with our performance and the crowd reaction was superb .... Annapoliis is a beautiful city and our corps enjoyed their time together.
  10. It was wonderful to see the returning members along with some new faces. Even past "Ghost Alumni" were in attendance with support. We had visitors and guests who made the night special. Now, due to our performance scheduled, in preparation for Aquninas High School @ the end of this month "THE HONOR FLIGHT CONCERT", we will see you all again on January 13th. GO GHOST !!!
  11. TONIGHTS THE NIGHT !!!! Open House for "Ghost Riders". The staff is looking forward to seeing everyone and is expecting a very exciting evening in "Parts Unkown". Happy Trails & safe travel to all !!!!
  12. Rest In Peace Dear Friend ....... from the entire Ghost Rider Family. Our memories of his friendship and his true caring will not soon be forgotten. We extend our deepest sympathy's to his family.
  13. The Ghost Riders collectively send our most heartfelt warm wishes to "You and Your Family", in this Christmas Season. The entire corps thoughts and prayers are with "All of You". May God shine down on you Dick and help you through this difficult time. The entire Ghost Riders Family.
  14. "Ghost Riders mini Drum & Bugle Corps" is pleased to announce there 2012 show. Traveling to Annapolis Maryland for the DCA Championship weekend is very exciting for us and we will be bringing our newly arranged original (Donny Allen Score) "A Civil War Portrait". We will be paying homage to all those who fought for our Freedom. Being in Annapolis Maryland, fits well in our opinion, to bringing this part of our "American History" to all in attendance @ the DCA Championships 2012. The audience will be taken from the beginning of strife .... through the war ..... with reverance being paid to the fallen ..... and ending with our country coming together as one ..... with Freedom and Equality for all. Ghost Riders Open House to be held January 6th, 2012 from 6:30pm to 10:30pm. Rehearsal site is "The Salvation Army 529 East Main St Batavia, NY 14020" Additional info on Ghost Riders is available through facebook @ Ghost Riders Drum & Bugle Corps.
