  5. Ajinomoto Stadium in Kanagawa, Japan A large stadium that alrady has a footing in the drum corps spotlight
  6. A topic on this has already been opened here: http://www.drumcorpsplanet.com/forums/inde...howtopic=140330
  7. Yes, but again, it comes from the Open class corps directors, not the DCI BoD. This has been stated by open class corps directors here on the forums for the past few years. The G7 issue is different.
  8. It's the same terminology that WGI uses. That, and prior to Division I, II, III in DCI, the classifications were All-Girls, A-60, A and Open at any given time in DCI's history. So it's nothing new here. And please remember it's the open class corps directors who make the decisions about what is happening in the open class, not the DCI BoD.
  9. Only concern is that building a drum corps in So. CA this day in age isn't exactly a local necessity. Esperanza, Alliance, Earthquake, Yamato, Black Knights, West Coast Sound, Imperials... I'm sure this list can go on, but for whatever reason (and I'm sure there's a number of them spanning all these now defunct corps) could not keep an active corps running. Even now we see Mystikal... struggling in one field or another, whether it be finances or member numbers or local support... Gold and Impulse... I don't know, but they're still here Not even Summer Youth Bands (aka Summer Bands International) could stay afloat in this modern So. CA era. I don't know. Maybe the brand name will help (doesn't seem to be hurting VK). In any case, I hope the corps succeeds!!
  10. Proposal: Extend caption change deadline from 4:00pm CST to 7:00pm CST Rationale: Allow participants living in timezones outside Central Standard Time (more specifically outside U.S. time zones) elbow room (per se) to submit captions. For example, Pacific Standard time runs 2 hours behind CST, meaning captions are due at 2:00pm, which for most people is during normal working hours. In Japan, this measures out to 6:00am in the morning. Adding three hours to the due time can allow a bit of a comfort zone for these time zone residents to submit captions. 8:00pm CST I think is more suitable, but during the live season, this might run over into score announcements of east coast shows. Effect on the activity: Most directors would not be affected by this change and during the live season, the deadline would still fall before show score announcements. As scores for DCPi are not announced until the following day, this should not affect the tabulating process either I would think. Residents in Europe would not be affected as the deadline already fell well into the night. Submitted by: Edward Escobar, Raincross
  11. Anywho, as we're waiting... Really liked Genesis's music book. A lot of little snippets from popular drum corps tunes popping up, especially at the beginning there. It's a good show to introduce drum corps with... maybe with a small commentary explaining each tune introduced, not in competition but maybe on a recruitment video or something... I don't know, just thinking out loud.
