I think John Hoekstra is the only other old school HW person that will be there this weekend. Maybe Bill Slover, but I don't think he is flying up. Mike, are you really coming up TN? I freaking CANNOT WAIT to perform in front of a DCA crowd! Valdosta was nice. Orlando was awesome. (sans the downpour) But a true DCA crowd takes the cake. The Sun Devils will be doing another "Travel Update" thread starting this Friday at midnight. See you on the 50...in Tennessee!

DCI Orlando, or should I say, "The Sun Devils Invitational", will go down in the Sun Devils history books. We were the only corps to march AT ALL on the Citrus Bowl field at all tonight. Orlando drum corps fans are VERY pleasant and were very receptive to all age corps. The corps received a standing ovation on our way out. It is true, we were stopped mid show to take cover. I was warned before the show that it might happen because the skies were looking quite ominous. Just as we were hitting the pay off of movement 3, we were told to stop immediately. Then it was time to wait. We treated the people waiting in the stairwells to the sounds of selected movements from our show. Then word came flying in that we were going back on but only standstill. Performance done. It was fun and no more rain. The corps is now on the bus. I am home :-) And so ends our first competitive weekend of 2009. See you Nashville on August 1!

Live from Orlando, welcome to the RAIN DELAY!!! We had almost 3/4 of the show done when the chief judge came out and asked me to stop the show. It is pouring right now. And we are not entirely sure we will get to start over. Man, it was a good run too. That's it for now. Our pit is still out there...

Awake now. The corps will be loading the bus at 11. Then it is off to Orlando for a day of rehearsal. I am sure we will be cleaning the little things today. The corps has the entire show on the field. Time to polish and get the new people situated.

The corps is back in Florida and getting a good night sleep. Until the morning...

Yeah, Keith is right. Interesting evening. We are going back to Wildwood tonight. Then onto a full day of rehearsal. Time to lean, time to clean.

Our first show is officially done and like Paul just said,"it's on like Donkey kong!". The corps is now sitting on the side 1 15 yardline enjoying...intermission. Drum major retreat only tonight. I guess I have more work to do.

Rehearsal block is done. The corps is now relaxing in the school lobby. Uniforms in one hour.

Bam! We're in Valdosta now. The corps arrived a little early. Now onto some lunch and rehearsing. This drive was pretty quick from Wildwood. Good times.

The corps is all loaded up and we are on our way! I guess we are going to watch Anchorman now. "we're on a bus!"

The DM is leaving in 9 minutes. See the rest of the corps in about an hour! I could not sleep! *edited for grammar yo

Welcome to the first 2009 travel log of the Sun Devils Drum and Bugle Corps! The Corps is leaving tomorrow morning at 6:00AM and heading up to Valdosta via Wildwood, FL. The Central Florida members are getting picked up at 9:00AM, and then it is straight on to Valdosta. Stay tuned to this thread for up to the minute travel updates from myself and other corps members. They decided not to go All-age and went with a junior corps. I have no idea what ever came of them after that decision. I do know that I and many of my friends signed up on the pre-roster list. Soon after signing we got the notification that they were going DCI. The website is gone and I have not heard anything else. It would have been interesting having another junior corps in Florida though. Maybe someone "in the know" has more information.

That was a whole load of AWESOME! Can't wait to see you this summer!
