  1. Really? Never saw that post. Just saw, and agreed that the season isn't over in June or July, and saying it is is just trashing the corps you want to hype and showing your @ss.
  2. Another part of that equation would be a full tour (Blue Stars '05, Memphis '06).
  3. OC is all class and stars in one of my favorite anecdotes of this activity. By all accounts Academy possesses and displays that same class. From my son, his eyes glow telling of Academy stopping their rehearsal/warmups to cheer and encourage his Corps anytime they trooped past. I do love D2/3. They may not have a monopoly on such behavior, but they do seem to have more of it.
  4. Righttttt. They did the best in D2, earned their win, deserved their win, and conducted themselves with class. Beyond that, that was not a Top 12 D1 show. Not even certain about a semi's placement. Southwind didn't make it, and their show design was far more mature. Yes, Academy's hornline was/is smoking, but GE being 40% and a 30% Visual caption sitting there too, that show was not an upper level D1 show. Not at all.
  5. Obviously, within D2 they'd have nothing to "fix". Not that they will get pass in D2 (no one does), but they are clearly ready to compete there.
  6. Academy won and that is great. This comes purely from the point of view of comparing them to a semi's or finalist D1. Their visual design would have to come a long ways. Having the guard use their skirts as a prop for most of a number wouldn't have gotten them the same marks in D1 as it did this season in D2. The big move the Corps makes with two groups marching through each other would also have to be worked on to get the same reaction from a D1 crowd. The jazz run is made while they aren't playing. The hornline is smoking, but in order for them to be a semis or finalist D1 visual/design will have to come a long ways.
  7. I like to think they would have. My kids were with Spartans and had nothing but the best to say about Academy all week. What needs to be said with this is how D2 is populated with Corps that act this way. Last season you had the intermeshed drumllines of ECJ and Spartans at Grand Finals BEFORE results were announced. A week prior, Spartans guard returns to the buses after a show in Manchester, and are met by OC's guard. OC's guard told them to go and change, they'd take care of the silks and equipment. A quick nod from staff, and they all put their stuff down and went aboard the buses. When they came out, they found the gear lined up and rolled with even greater care than they used.
  8. This comes out of the D1 realm, but a 1.6 drop in Visual Ensemble from prelims to semis for Spartans. Hmmmm. They hadn't been that low since July, and I doubt any other Corps in any division took that big of a hit in one caption. I will eat those words if shown wrong.
  9. I think he probably is. Laughed when I read Ryan's post.
  10. They did indeed. What a mess that whole setup was. Much happier with this format. Stick around Strutter. You're words are valued and valuable. On the whole scores issue, I'm so much more interested in the recaps than the final scores. It's nice to know where the show grew, and where it needs tweaking or where the Corps slipped.
  11. Hey, have calmed down quite a bit from last night. Sorry for parts of my reply to you. I certainly could have made my point with a bit less attitude. Were this a public webcast or on ESPN I would have had little to say. As a customer of a commercial webcast my expectations increase. Generally, I expect to get what I paid for. Hence my extreme displeasure with DCI last night. We all want things to get better for the activity, but when the governing body/commercial arm of the activity lets down their customers the opposite happens. Me? I'll certainly be sticking around, but DCI won't win/keep new fans if they let them down.
  12. You watched it? ALL (D2 & 3) of the other Corps today had several camera angles. None less than 3, except Spartans. 1 angle. Backfield endzone. You wouldn't be ######? I should feel thankful for the privilige to pay for that? You're a great customer. Come by Ebay, so I can sell you some crap you're grateful to get.
  13. No worries, I understood from your previous post that you got it. Really wanted to "see" Academy too, but saw them without seeing them. #### anger thing.
  14. Wow! Lighten up all. I made NO mention to scores, merely the enjoying the feed, that I paid for, of a very visual Corps from only one angle. Backfield endzone. Yes, I am ######. Yes, as the seller, DCI bears the brunt of that. This is no way a comment on the judging or scoring of the night.
  15. I really want to tell you about their show, but am just to ###### off right now. Let me calm some, and I'll try to get to you tomorrow. I did love the emotion in the sound tonight though. Problem is that the Spartans are a VERY VISUAL Corps. DCI didn't help that tonight, and my BP is too high right now to honestly convey it. Sorry.
  16. Spartans streamed ONLY from the backfield endzone? Not 1 second from another camera? I am F'ing ######! The only Corps for that to happen to.
  17. Pardon the langauge. ####! I like OC! A Flugelhorn solo? F'ing yeah! How many D2s do that? Great show guys and gals. Get some.
  18. Spoke with my son last night after I posted my reply. They have spent this week with Academy, and says they have been all class at housing and show sites. Lots of vocal encouragement between the 2 Corps whenever they pass each other. Strutter, I'm jealous. What a show you're going to see this week Madison. .5 between the top 4? Wow! One thing's for certain, you will see the absolute best effort all thos kids have to offer.
  19. Nicely done. This single post did more in my eyes than any score your Corp puts up could. Class and integrity is a large part of this activity, and it always great to see it exercised.
  20. Nice. D2 is turning out to be a real battle this season. G'luck tomorrow.
  21. That's true. Think it might be also true for judges looking at GE?
  22. That's a pretty tough choice. My kids spent a couple of seasons in D3, and didn't make it to finals one season, so I understand the frustration involved. On the flip side, there are seasons that the level of shows can vary quite a bit more drastically in D3 than in D2. Looking at the Corps that would sit out Finals under current standings (not that I feel this is static), I'd have to vote for the system in place.
