  1. Look, I'm glad there is this much controversy. If there wasn't this much controversy, I was wondering if I was at the Velvet Knights. So, for the weekend, this was one of the best weekends we have had. DCI gave us the thumbs up. The show came together musically much closer to the way I envisioned it while writing it. The horns are louder than it can be imagined for the size that they are......and overtones rang clearly for much of it. And the visual show is gonna be rockin!!!! I'm so excited about the progress we made this weekend. Saturday night was soooo incredible. Staff were on high emotion hearing the show come together so well. And then Sunday.....the new Velvet Knights were finally given the stamp of approval by DCI. We are on our way. We have a mission. Let the critics be silent once they see us take the field this summer. The Velvet Knights are not only back. But we are here to kick some!!!! Thank you to all the members who made this weekend so memorable. Thank you to all the fans for your support and encouragement. And in a few days, you will all get a first sneak peek at the 2007 Velvet Knights........
  2. An allusion to it at the beginning of the show, as a lot of things are alluded to throughout the show if you listen carefully.....or not so carefully.
  3. I'm only talking about things already in the show. No kitchen sink yet. Of course, the show will develop over the course of the season...... ^0^
  4. Thank you!!!! Yes, it is next Sunday. Most of this last weekend was spent making sure our 2 minutes is done on the field. We are looking and sounding great (overtones from the hornline on Sat and Sunday!!!!). More bodies are needed, but everything is looking strong. Thanks to all of you, by the way, for your support and encouragement. It has been extremely fun working to get the legendary corps back on the field and been a blast writing what is the rebirth of the Velvet Knights. I hope you all enjoy it when you see it as much as we have had making it happen. And for those of you who are or have been with Cadets, Star of Indiana, the San Francisco Renegades, the Sacramento Freelancers, the "classic" Velvet Knights, Spirit of JSU, the Santa Clara Vanguard and the Blue Devils.....we apologize in advance for making slight fun in our show...... OK, not really. Parody is the highest form of flattery...... B) Peace to all of you and we'll see you soon!
  5. The sun will come out......tomorrow. hmmm *thinking of some way to hide that in the show* Maybe I'll make it a mello lick in "The Garden". Just for you, Chris. B) ^0^
  6. No, that is HANS Zeilinger, the director of the Varookers Drum and Bugle Corps from Amsterdam. :P
  7. Dude, I hear ya! But we need more than tubas. Trumpets and mellos would be great. Especially considering I wrote some great stuff for mellos, especially..... Although this IS the tuba line to be in this year, let me tell you..... Ya dig????
  8. Having been through it before with other groups, I KNOW there is more than that, but I didn't NEED to explain the whole process. I think you understand that, no?
  9. Nope, no spoilers (as YOU know).....just tease.....
  10. And they are STILL making horns for the Velvet Knights. Brand new this year. HIGHLY recommended.
  11. LOL. Not exactly........BUT.......oh nevermind for now. ^0^
  12. Not determined at this point. All new corps need review by DCI before being put on schedules. The review is basically for DCI to see that we have members and that those members are marching and playing 2 minutes of the show. Our review is in April. With that said, there are shows that already want us there and have said that they want us in. We just can't officially be on the lineups until the review process is complete. However, with the horn book entirely learned and drill being learned next camp, we will CERTAINLY be ok. And after saying ALL of that....we are looking to tour just CA and AZ this year. But, that adds up to a decent amount of shows as well and means that, for once, I may end up sleeping in my own bed sometime in early August.
  13. Mirror in the Bathroom. It'll be part of the opener with the Violent Femmes stuff. You're evil, btw Randy. PURE evil! ^0^
  14. When I feel it is clean enough. Of course, considering I will NEVER think it's clean enough, that could be somewhere around April of 2265. In reality? Probably after the next camp in March.
  15. Ewwww.....you just can't get a decent white chocolate mocha at a gas station!!! <**> How about those "city blocks" between Ave 21 and Ave 22 that was 6 miles long? I guess they do things different in the desert.... But the school itself.....absolutely rockin!!!!!!!!!!!! BTW....Are you guys making fun of me with the "Fair Enough"???? :sshh: Oh.....and what about ensemble???? It was awesome to finally hear VK again...... B)
  16. Perhaps. ^0^ We are now back from our secret desert camp. Looks exactly like Tatooine.....with a HUGE school right in the middle of nowhere. 15 miles to the nearest Starbucks. That is the only official horn staff complaint. After this weekend, and the insanity of all of the design staff and members, the Velvet Knights are definitely back. The whole horn book was learned, with the exception of the top secret ending to the show.... Let Chaos reign supreme!!!!!!!!!!!! We DO however, need more people to fill all captions. If you are interested, please PM me and join the legend that will be "X". BTW.....VK tubas will rule the world someday. Seriously.
  17. Not as awesome as the horn staff, though.
  18. I also hear that there might be a complete horn book this weekend.
  19. I'll try. Sounds more like a parking lot chord progression to me, though......hmmm.....
  20. It is "highly likely" that there will be a MMT "moment" in the show, but not right at the beginning....... And.... Yes, we are also doing "Hide and Seek".....along with a couple other Cadets' moments from the past.....or should I say moments from the Garfield Cadets? As I am currently working on the horn book, there are MANY moments from drum corps past and present that are finding their way into the horn book. There is even a rumor that some Renegades' moments might work their way in there as well, especially as we are doing a "Matrix" piece. And the hornline learned the Violent Femmes/English Beat stuff at the last camp (with a few other Easter Eggs in there as well). It's been a blast to work on this show!!! The horn book will be complete by the February camp.... Oh, and a BIG shout out to Jason B.--Thanks for your support! It'll be weird running into Freelancers alumni this year at Nationals with a Velvet Knights jacket on...... B) And "peace!" to Ryan Turner as well. I know that you feel passionately about VK and, since we've worked with each other in the past (even though I was only down at Dream for a weekend clinic!), I REALLY hope you enjoy what we have in store.....and hope to have the chance to hang out sometime on tour....... Peace out, yo!
  21. Yes, it is Brent's. http://www.vkyao.org/staff.html#uniform
  22. Good luck Impulse! Looking forward to seeing yet another awesome product from you this year.
  23. "oh look, it's a "random" poster. or was this name created just to stir **** up with VK? And at the same time promote Impulse? Let's see. Checking member's posts. Ah yes! He/she/it has three posts - the 2 friendly ones here and this one... etc, etc," <**> Trolls will be trolls, ya know? But let's not throw it back at Impulse just because some individuals associated with Impulse have decided to turn their energy towards slighting us instead of putting that energy to better use. The people that I have met from Impulse have all been cool and classy. I would hate to think that a few individuals associated with them are starting to hurt the great reputation that the corps has fostered over the past few years. Best of luck to Impulse this season. Continue to kick major butt! :) Incidentally, I remember when I was with Renegades that there would be "random" posters talking crap about THAT corps as well..... I guess, sometimes, it just sucks NOT to be us. :P j/k Thank you to everyone who has expressed support to the Velvet Knights this season. We will see you on the field soon. And to ALL of the wonderful members that are Velvet Knights "in training"--thank you for your great work so far. You all ROCK!!!!! (in no ways should this post be taken to reflect the "official" positions of the Velvet Knights concerning trolls. )
