  1. Just a couple that I remember from my marching days in the 50's Boston Crusaders were call "CRUD" Racine Kilties were the "OBSCENE FILTHIES"
  2. If I remember correctly it was 1954 or 1955. I was in a boy scout troop in Masschusetts about to march in my first parade. A local parade corps (The Worcester Crusaders/Italian American Drum and Bugle Corps) was warming up before the parade. I can clearly remember the emotion as the hair on my arms stood up and chills went down my back. At that moment I was hooked. I began to search out local corps and found the Blackstone Valley Cadets from Rochdale Mass. I marched one year with this group before I moved on to the IC Reveries. I've been hooked ever since and am always searching for that same feeling. If a corps can't make the hair on my arms stand up, then I'm dissapointed. We are now a three generation corps family. My sons all marched with the Scarlet Knights of Gurnee IL, My oldset son then marched with Skokie/Norwood Park Imperials and then Pioneer and two years ago with the Royal Aires. My youngest son also marched with Imperials and my daughter marched her first competition at age 9 with the Scarlet Knights. My grandsons have marched with Racine Scouts and Pioneer. My grandaughter is eyeing the Blue Stars, She is only 11 but she is determined to march there. This may not count in some of your minds but my wife also marched in a color guard in Milwaukee (The Royal Bravados) and also with Lake Band. I have been an assistant manager with the Scarlet Knights and The Imperials and also was in charge of the Navy Service School Command Band at Great lakes Ill.
