  1. Alrighty...let me preface this by saying that I was a huge fan of their '88-'02 uniforms, and I absolutely hated their uniforms '03-'05. A big improvement over the past couple years! I was really shocked to hear that they were going away from white pants, but when I heard they were going to be kinda like the '81 uniform, I thought it might be a good change. Well...after seeing them tonight, I can't say that I like them. Here's why.... #1) The Fluer-de-lis on the front does absolutely nothing besides make it look messy. Perhaps they should put one in the drill (which they don't have) and take it off their uniforms. #2) GET RID OF THE MIRRORS ALREADY!! It doesn't do anything, and looks tacky!! #3) What are with the mardi-gras beads on their arms. Are they suppose to be Citation Cords? #4) The jackets are way to short....looks a little to Cavies for me. #5) The sash should be wider and should go around the whole jacket, instead of just the front. #6) Red ties would look sweet!! I do have to say that they are improved over the past couple years...it will take some time to get used to, but I think they will work. As like someone else stated...they do look a whole heck of a lot better up close then on the field. They make the corps look very small. Perhaps I will give a review of their show. Some good some bad. Those are my thoughts.
  2. Lets just hope for a few things.... #1) The brass line switches to a real set of instruments. And has the power it used too. (no I'm not talking G, I'm talking get rid of the Nastys!) Come on...they used to produce more sound with a better quality when they were marching 65. Last year they were loud, but nothing compared to the Stewart era. #2) Myron realizes how important it is to have at least 1 Fleur-de-Lis on the field. What ever happened to the MADISON entrance! Long company front, flip into FDL. #3) Please Bring back that aggresive marching style! It's not MADISON!!! On the other hand......great job with the drumline and show design. Well except for the whole ending thing. Please MYRON...if you do anything....get the design team to create a true Madison Ending!! Thank You!
  3. Newest Update! Looks like a new stadium in Indy is a GO!!!!! I sure hope this place has better acoustics than the RCA Dome. Thank You Indy!
  4. Well, they are just following the presidents lead, I mean he did supposedly turn down help from other Countries saying.... "We can handle this, we need to handle this by ourselves" or something along these lines. <**>
  5. Not sure if you were aware, but I highly doubt that anyone here has marched on Madisons field, seeing as it is new in the past year or so. Also, the lighting is tons better as they added back stand lighting and front stand lighting so they could host nightime TV games. And you actually like the Citrus Bowl?? That stadium is falling apart, there is no warm-up areas, you can't leave the stadium without a knife. Horrible. Parking in Madison, although not a lot of parking ramps/lots is much better than paying $25. There are plenty of FREE side streets, some $5-$10 lots, and they usually have parking at the Allient Energy Center with a shuttle to the stadium. Food is good, semi-reasonable price, and get this...you can leave the stadium and come back in!! AMAZING!
  6. The Good... --Seeing Division II and III corps coming out with more entertaining shows than Div I and showing the crowds what its all about. --Watching Colts produce an awesome show and get so close to making it back into the Top 12. --Watching Southwind produce and awesome show and get back into Semis! (Next year = finals) --Phantom being completely AMAZING!! (shoulda won!!) --Bluecoats having an amazing season! --SCV doing RCM --Phantom Regiment's Hornline --Phantom Regiments CG outfits, very cute. --Nobody sang?!?!? --Finalizing DCI 2006 in Madison The Bad... --Watching the Scouts and being completly non-satisfied. Just a bad show, IMO. --Watching the Scouts use gimmicks (XL hornline, guest performer) just to get back into top 6. --The Cadets drum speak was awful. --Capital Regiments Sundial and the dancer that changed costumes quick but really didn't do anything else. --Seatle Cascades and the worst use of narration this year. --Cadets winning with a 99.15 --Phantom not winning The Funny... Watching the Cadets School Girls get interviewed on the Cinecast and the fact that they had absolutely NO IDEA what there show was about. LOL!!!!!!!! (ummmm.....we represent Jennifer Newman!) HAHAHAHA!!!!
  7. I just want a PARADE!!!!! All Drum Corps All the Time! Nothing like 50 Drums Corps doing a parade around the Capitol to raise awareness!! Yea!
  8. Name a worse Madison ending? I mean, come on..did you see that ending...complete lack of GE and emotion. Blah!
  9. I wouldn't pay that much to see a Patriots game ever!!
  10. Fuel is also reaching RECORD highs. If this keeps up...not good. Gas in Wisconsin is expected to hit $3.00 or more per gallon by Labor day.
  11. HAHAHA! I'm very happy for the 'Coats! Great job.
  12. I noticed that in the subject heading for this thread is says Raiders, ECJ Grand Champions. However, it is my understanding that the whole purpose of the "grand finals" is to have 1 Top 12 show for Division II and III combined. So therefore only ECJ could be the "GRAND" champion. Please correct me if I'm understanding this wrong.
  13. BOOO!!! So does this mean that the 2005 Scouts with all the hoopla and all surrounding the corps have given one of the worst Madison Scout endings ever?? What a dissapointment.
  14. You are correct, and yes there are numerous corps that don't. However, DivII/III has gone from over 200 corps to 29 participating in finals, and thats when finals are on the east where the majority of the Div II/III corps are from. When you move things out west (which is a really great thing, don't get me wrong) the number of corps participating in DCI Championships will most likely be in the high teens. Of course that isn't what I want...and if I can assist in anyway that I'm not already doing so, then I will. There is nothing more that I want to see then 200 corps from all over participating in a DCI CHampionships week out west.
  15. First of all.....it's not DCI's fault that there a good number of corps from the NorthEast, and a Higher population density. Also, DCI does not stop corps from over seas to participate or Canada or Mexico. Two years is plenty of time and I sure do hope that some of the corps are starting to save some money to afford going to finals in 2007. I think having DCI on the West is a great idea. Just costly. Lastly, please do not talk to me about donating money to corps. Besides putting many hours of marching, teaching and volunteer time in, I also help out the corps whenver I can. I make it a goal to give some "extra" money to a corps every year. What do you do?? Oh i see you marched in the activity for a whole year. Congrats. When was the last time you donated money to a corps other than buying a Cavie sweatshirt??
  16. If Pasadena, CA is actually the site of the 2007 Finals......does anyone else fear that it will be the least attended Div II/III Finals week? Honestly, how many of the smaller Div III and some Div II corps from the Midwest/East will not be able to make the trip all the way west. This is horrible for Div II/III. (and yes I know that there are corps from out west that don't get the chance to go to finals every year...and that sucks. And for that reason, I'm happy they are going out West. But still there are a ton more Div II/III corps from the Midwest/East than from the West.)
  17. But food prices ARE that high. I had a friend who called me and told me that.
  18. I don't know what you do for a living, but this place seems to expensive for most of us. In fact, I'm quite glad I did not make the trip. $25 to park, $4 for a bottle of Water, $10 for a "value" meal at McDonalds??? COME ON..Get real. I think I would have had to take out a loan just to make the trip. Not to mention the field looks to be in quite horrible conditions. Hmm...I'd vote not to go back there.
  19. Well yes, it will be nice for those corps and the other west coast corps to be able to attend finals, but I'd put money on the fact that there is significantly more Midwest/East coast Div II/III corps out there. So ya gotta look at the majority...thats why I feel somewhere Central is always the best bet. Denver was great, and even a little more west would work....but all the way West I think is not a good situation.
  20. As much as I like the idea of Finals being out West, I do think that the number of corps that actually attend finals will decrease severly, especially Div II/III.
  21. I hope your talking about the old Scouts as being from 1938-2003. Cause the Scouts never left. The only "down" year in the view of the true Madison Philosophy which is still taught and preached today was 2004. Every year leading up to that the corps was amazing with an extremely entertaining show that the members went out there everyday busting their butts for.
  22. Do you honestly like the new MS ending? Check out the other thread about how awful it is.
  23. Well, just to start this off..... Bluecoats have a FANTASTIC show this year. Easily the best ever from them, and they are performing it like a top 4 corps. Should easily be ahead of Madison and possibly Devils. And honestly...there drum speak is AWESOME. Very tasty. Go Bluecoats! Show this world what you've got.
