First, a brief history lesson: On December 1, 1996, paperwork was filed in the State of Florida to create Heat Wave of Orlando Drum & Bugle Corps, Inc., the first DCA corps to come out of the Sunshine State. Heat Wave would go on to win or share the DCA Class A Championship twice. Skip ahead to 2009, when a change of direction led to a NEW name, Sun Devils, Inc. The Sun Devils took a more “serious” approach to programming than their fun-loving Florida-themed predecessors. Through a series of ups and downs, the Sun Devils would ultimately go on to become DCA Class A Finalists twice
  2. Figured there at least ought to be a thread where the scores from these two shows are discussed. We should have those fairly soon. The last corps at both events (Madison Scouts, one of ten corps at Oceanside; and Santa Clara Vanguard, one of six corps at Auburn) ought to be performing right now. The Auburn show includes the DCI debut of a new Open Class corps, Battalion (there are eight Open Class performing in these two shows).
  3. The 2014 "State of the Art Drum Corps Invitational" is once again, Florida's ONLY drum and bugle corps competition. Hosted by the Sun Devils Performing Arts Group, State of the Art will be held in historic St. Augustine, FL at St. Augustine High School Stadium. Show time begins at 7:30 PM.
