What songs/lyrics make you think of Drum Corps?

"Send in the Clowns"

Isn't it rich?

Are we a pair?

Me here at last on the ground,

You in mid-air.

Send in the clowns.

Isn't it bliss?

Don't you approve?

One who keeps tearing around,

One who can't move.

Where are the clowns?

Send in the clowns.

Just when I'd stopped opening doors,

Finally knowing the one that I wanted was yours,

Making my entrance again with my usual flair,

Sure of my lines,

No one is there.

Don't you love farce?

My fault I fear.

I thought that you'd want what I want.

Sorry, my dear.

But where are the clowns?

Quick, send in the clowns.

Don't bother, they're here.

Isn't it rich?

Isn't it queer,

Losing my timing this late

In my career?

And where are the clowns?

There ought to be clowns.

Well, maybe next year.

Quite a few come to mind actually...

"Love You Madly" by Cake

"Where Do I Begin" by the Chemical Brothers and "Age Six Racer" by Dashboard Confessional (both were used in Boston's 2002 tour video)

"Take A Picture" by Filter

"Stay With Me" by Finch

Pretty much anything from Incubus

"Faithfully" by Journey

"Times of Our Lives" by Paul Van Dyk

"Dare You to Move" by Switchfoot

and "She Sells Sanctuary" by The Cult

I sat on the bus for 3 hours while some guy near me had fallen asleep with evanescence's 'wake me up' on repeat on his iPOD. I've never been so happy to get to a housing site, and never been so tired of a song.

I've never marched, but the first time I read any of these forums, someone referred to his marching days as "the best days of my life."

Now whenever I want to dream about drum corps, I put on Summer of 69 by Bryan Adams

oh when i look back now that summer seemed to last forever

and if i had the choice yeah - i'd always wanna be there

those were the best days of my life

we were young

and restless we needed to unwind

I guess nothin' can last forever - forever,

now the times are changing look at everything that's come

and gone

Muskrat Love (Captain and Tenille)

Muskrat, Muskrat, candle light

Doin' the town and doin' it right in the evenin'

It's pretty pleasin'

Muskrat Suzie, Muskrat Sam

Do the jitterbug at a Muskrat Land

And they shimmy, Sam is so skinny

And they whirl and they twirl and they tango

Singin' and jinglin' a jangle

Float like the heavens above

Looks like Muskrat Love

Nibblin' on bacon

Chewin' on cheese

Sam says to Suzie

Honey, would you please be my Mrs

Suzie says, yes, with her kisses

Now, he's ticklin' her fancy

Rubbin' her toes

Muzzle to muzzle

Now anything goes as they wriggle

Sue starts to giggle

And they whirled and they twirled and they tango

Singin' and jinglin' a jangle

Floatin' like the heavens above

Looks like muskrat love

Autumn Leaves

The falling leaves drift by the window

The autumn leaves of red and gold

I see your lips, the summer kisses

The sun-burned hands I used to hold

Since you went away the days grow long

And soon Ill hear old winters song

But I miss you most of all my darling

When autumn leaves start to fall

I never marched, but Fastball's "The Way" always makes me think of drum corps, mostly because of these lines:

"Anyone could see

The road that they walk on is paved in gold

And it's always summer, they'll never get cold

They'll never get hungry

They'll never get old and gray."

A little explanation:

When you're a fan, the performers, drum corps members, "never get old, never get hungry, never get old and gray" because even though the membership changes, from the stands its year after year of teens and 20-somethings performing.

And even part of the opening verse can be applied to drum corps:

"They made up their minds

And they started packing

They left before the sun came up that day

An exit to eternal summer slacking...."

Also, I heard this song a lot one summer while driving to and from shows.

final countdown just reminds me of pep band. -_-

It's the mellophone section's favorite stand tune, because our director lost the mello part.

this means we get to improv it every time.

those who aren't that hot at improv just dance a lot. :P
