DrillmanSop06
Fastball's "The Way" as previously mentioned. Parts of Kenny Chesney's "I Go Back" also get me thinking about summer. "I go back to a two toned short bed Chevy Drivin my first love out to the levvy Livin life with no sense of time And I go back to the feel of a fifty yard line A blanket, a girl, some raspberry wine Wishin time would stop right in its tracks Everytime I hear that song, I go back" "I go back to the smell of an old gym floor The taste of salt on the Carolina shore After graduation and drinkin goodbye to friends And I go back to watchin summer fade to fall Growin up too fast and I do recall Wishin time would stop right in its tracks Everytime I hear that song, I go back, I go back" I miss drum corps. :(
Supersonic
Oddly enough, "Poppa" by Notorious BIG. We were on the bus this summer and we were watching a "Best of Will Ferrell" DVD. They had one skit where he was supposed to be Robert Goulet: http://youtube.com/watch?v=p2zRGQX2QLo For the rest of the season, several kids in the pit and I would just randomly burst into song and start singing the first half of his impression of "Poppa" in the skit. I don't know why it stuck with us, but we just would always start singing that and laughing. And making fun of the bighorn sheep part at the end of the skit. Anyways, kind of random, but that's a song I think of to remind me of 2007. I guess it's tied with the corps song, actually... that almost seems wrong! The corps song is more meaningful for sure; I suppose it's good for me to put that in there. :D Edited November 1, 2007 by Supersonic
frontline99
"In This Diary" Here in this diary, I write you visions of my summer. It was the best I ever had. There were choruses and sing-alongs, And that unspoken feeling of knowing Right now is all that matters All the nights we stayed up talking and listening to 80's songs; quoting lines from all those movies that we love. It still brings a smile to my face. I guess when it comes down to it... Being grown up isn't half as fun as growing up: These are the best days of our lives. The only thing that matters is just following your heart and eventually you'll finally get it right. Breaking into hotel swimming pools, and wreaking havoc on our world. Hanging out at truck stops just to pass the time. The black top's singing me to sleep. Lighting fireworks in parking lots, illuminate the blackest nights. Cherry cokes under this moonlight summer sky. 2015 Riverside, it's time to say, "goodbye." Get on the bus, it's time to go. Being grown up isn't half as fun as growing up: These are the best days of our lives. The only thing that matters is just following your heart, and eventually you'll finally get it right. -The Ataris, 'In This Diary'
frontline99
That one for lyrics. I used that in the '04 end of season video for CapReg and everyone said it was perfect. For sentimental reasons my "hype song" was 'Every you, every Me' by Placebo. Always the last thing I would listen to before getting off the bus. A27Lancer
For me, it's "My Old School" by Steely Dan. We would listen to it (8-track!) on the bus, and play along with the cow bell part. Every time I hear that song, I think back to tour, and good times on the bus.
Supersonic
Oh yeah, and my hype song was "I Can Go the Distance" from the Disney movie Hercules. I have often dreamed of a far off place Where a great warm welcome will be waiting for me. Where the crowds will cheer when they see my face And a voice keeps saying this is where I'm meant to be. I will find my way- I can go the distance I'll be there someday, if I can be strong I know every mile will be worth my while I would go most anywhere to feel like I belong I am on my way- I can go the distance I don't care how far - Somehow I'll be strong I know every mile will be worth my while I would go most anywhere to find where I belong Not the first time a Disney song has been my hype song... in the 2007 WGI season, my hype song was "I'll Make a Man Out of You" because I was a girl tenor keeping up with a drumline of guys. Mwa ha ha ha ha! Edited November 1, 2007 by Supersonic
O.P.
Well you asked....I have 3 sons. Two of my boys not 5 minutes ago started to play Halo 2. Well the music from Halo puts thoughts of Drum Corps into my head every time, why?... I couldn't tell you. And Halo 3? What does that make you think of? Edited November 1, 2007 by O.P.
