He is asking for suggestions, and as far as I can tell has no mention of wanting either way on the use of voice in this production. This is your chance to subit ideas people. If you want a change, then be proactive.

you sure that wasn't a typo and should have been "the pursuit of HOPPYNESS???"

If that was the case.......we could do music about George or BEER!!!!

:P

just a note from hops blog on Aug 12th regarding voice....

And as for voice ....

It is a tool. If voice can assist the program, we will use it.

We do not create a show around voice, just as we do not create a show around a drum solo.

It's another piece to the puzzle ... something that can make a program more appealing, at least to some.

Amplification, voice, instruments, speed, etc ... we try to use them all. We try to make it all interesting.

We try to put together a package that many will enjoy!

Okay, lyrics from the song I recommended to Hopkins.

WE THE PEOPLE

Words and Music by Steve Romanoff

We the people, hand in hand,

We, the people, understand,

That there's an answer, there's a way,

We, the people, have to say,

So, send the orders to prepare,

We, the people, do declare,

Send the good news, send the word,

We, the people, will be heard,

We, the people, everywhere.

There's a message in the air,

And it's a'movin' across the land,

If you listen you can hear it well, my friend,

we know the time has come

To take our heads out of the sand,

'Cause if we don't the chance might never come again,

The future is in reason,

Not in building ways of war,

And the time has come for reason to be heard,

The purpose of the people

Is what this declaration's for,

And it's why our fathers told us word for word...

We won't accept excuses,

And we won't accept the lies,

Of those who'd lead our nations into hell,

It's time to call their bluff,

To say to them, enough's enough,

It's time we all could hear the tolling of the bell,

It's time to feed the hungry,

And it's time to heal the pain,

And it's time to beat our weapons into plows,

It's time to hear the voices that have risen once again,

It's the wisdom of the people clear and loud,

Singing proud...

Sounds like more of the same (or worse) from Cadets in 2008...that guy never learns.

9 championships to his name compared to your...? Fans have only started to turn their backs since 2005, not before.

What he's continuing learning to do is finding a way to build on the success that he's already had since taking over the Cadets in '82 (?). It's going to be hit and miss. I feel the narration in this year's show was strongly performed, but not compelling. While it drew from essays from an earlier contest, I don't think it went well with the music. Regardless, I like this show better than 2005's championship show based on 2005 to now.
