  1. Thank you Amber for describing in such eloquent words how so many of us felt during our time on the field.
  2. Not sure, but this one has always puzzled me. I wonder if there have been any other half point drops in a caption from semis to finals by one of the top 2?
  3. FYI - field vis scores for Star 1993: 9.8 semis, 9.3 finals How do you lose a half point in one night, in one category at that time in the season?
  4. There is a difference between North Carolina and Atlanta-hot compared to Arkansas and Florida hot. It's usually the major difference in humidity. 93 southern tour was unpleasant.
  5. Ah, free time at amusement parks! Those were the days!
  6. Funny enough, I recall performing at Hershey, PA in 1992. We were just getting to our first big hit of the show (the big arc), and this one dude, sitting in the stands right in the center section, stands up and raises TWO middle fingers to the entire corps and just continues to stand there until the cut off! I believe he was "complimenting" the corps by basically saying "that kind of sound should not be allowed, F U and your glorious sound!!!" Other members including Mr. Pink Elephant have correlating reports of seeing this that night as well. It definitely made up for some of the riff raff we had to deal with that summer.
  7. Ah, the memories of Preview of Champions at Vanderbilt in 1992 is rapidly coming back to me...
  8. I heard La Fiesta Mexicana was being considered. Signed, The sans Lead Baritone that did age out in 94....in an arena.
  9. I remember hearing vuvuzelas in the stands during the 1989 ACC Marching Band Championships in Scranton, PA. Vuvuzelas are so 1989.
  10. YUP. Semifinals - 9.8 Field Vis Finals - 9.3 Field Vis. And that's the ballgame folks.
  11. This has to be the funniest thing I've ever saw. Priceless. That is exactly how I felt in 92.
  12. I marched because I wanted to be part of the best representation of what could be displayed on the field. I traveled away from the backyard of another corps to join the best brass line in the world.
  13. Although, COPELAND, is a realy cool rock band.
  14. I EMPHATICALLY agree. The show was amazing.
  15. I had followed Star that 1989 season since my HS marching band was playing their 89 field show that fall........ In 1990, I got to go to my first finals.....Buffalo......Only several hours from northern Jersey. That finals night changed me forever.......living in the northern part of NJ and having Garfield stay at your HS for a week each summer, I was a Garfield fan.....until finals night 1990. When Star played that first chord, my jaw dropped and didn't close until I saw at least 7 different stars in that closer...... "All Hail the Gods of Brass..." After that night, little did I know I'd be spending a lot on airfare for 3 years straight flying from NJ out to IN to march with one of the finest brass lines in the history of drum corps.
  16. Ben, you know I worked with her for like 2 years at CNN, right? You should have told me.....I would have gotten a signed photo or something for ya!
  17. you sure that wasn't a typo and should have been "the pursuit of HOPPYNESS???" If that was the case.......we could do music about George or BEER!!!! :P
  18. I think this is one time where the judges have the option of scoring to give a corps a message..........."You've done the same drill for 10 years.......give it up........it's time to move on......." Cavies need a serious REFRESH. Loved the Macnine thing and the thing before that.......but if I see another filled triangle from them, I'm gonna get sick.
