jeff danchik
So reflecting on this past year and looking ahead to the future:There were 13 Open Class Corps in 2007: Buccaneers Caballeros Empire Statesmen Bushwackers Brigadiers Minnesota Brass Hurricanes Renegades CorpsVets Crusaders Music City Legend Kilties Frontier 9 Class A Corps: Sunrisers Govenaires SoCal Dream Fusion Core Alliance Chops, Inc. Gulf Coast Sound White Sabres Lakeshoremen And 18 Minicorps: Star United Renegades Golden Eagles Thunderbirds Minni Brass Ghost Riders Mass Brass Capital Brass SoCal Dream Outlaws Skyliners Amoskeag Sound Crossmen Xtreme Derby City Knights St. Kevin's Carolina Gold Imperials Excelsiors Now we should be able to add to that this coming season with the following: Returning Corps: Shenandoah Sound Grenadiers Carolina Gold Mon Valley Express And potential NEW corps: Masquerade Prairie Sound Crosswinds En Garde Cinncinati Tradition Austin Stars Blues, Inc. North Coast Rock Genesis High Country Brass Sun Devils Kingsmen Hardcorps The Presidents Windsor Regiment So in the spirit of this thread, let's hear how recruiting is going. Any excellent camp experiences? How is your 2008 program shaping up? What spots are you still trying to fill? Inquiring minds want to know how the new kids on the block are coming along! There have been a few updates in recent weeks. Let's hear some more! What strategies are working for your particular group? Which ones aren't? Thanks Sayre for thinking of us. We just finished a winter percsussion ensemble season and are now putting together a summer parade corps.Drumline is 14 strong, growing every week, and guard starts this weekend and should be 10-12 to start. Horns start next week, not sure what numbers will be, but should have the 12-14 we need for parades.Goals are to be out in the community and recruiting, have more drummers for indoor next year, a competetive guard, bigger parade corps and possibly a mini corps. Don't expect to see us anytime soon on the field. :big hug:

Shadow_7
8 Additional Class A corps in 2008:Frontier Excelsior Sun Devils Shenandoah Sound Kingston Grenadiers Carolina Gold Derby City Knights Cincinnati Tradition Wouldn't Frontier, Carolina Gold, Grenadiers, and Shenandoah Sound be "returning" corps? Frontier was previous Open Class. Gold took a year off from DCA, similar for Grenadiers. And Shenandoah Sound has otherwise been denied the opportunity the past year or more because of the 35 minimum rule.

When I mentioned other corps as "returning", I meant they were returning from the previous year in that same division. The corps you are referencing are either new to DCA competition or have been away for a year or more. Sorry that's not more clear. I was trying to figure out a good way to indicate that. CSGreen
Masquerade is in the Denton and Houston DCA shows Crosswinds is still a pending project, no performing ensemble yet, but still working to become one The Commanders and Scream Machine are in the same boat. Pending projects, folks working hard to make them happen, so hopefully we'll see them soon as well.

Actually none of them are NEW to DCA competition. But I suppose that all of them did not compete as a Class A corps in 2007.
