Does anyone have a good idea of a fairly inexpensive way to burn old drum corps albums to MP3? I bought one from Bed, Bath and Beyond but it doesn't record very loud. Thanks! I just received some old albums and want to get them done soon.

Searching for Videos of LI Kingsmen
GoldMonster replied to GoldMonster's topic in Historical Junior Corps Discussions
My parents had some old footage but the films were actually burned in a fire and had to be trashed. We were told the corps had been filmed at Prelims at DCI in 1980. Some members remember seeing it, some members don't. Does anyone know if corps outside of the top 12 finalists were taped? We were 16th that year. -
For the past few years some of the alumni have been looking for old videos/films, etc of the Long Island Kingsmen. Over the past two years I have heard one of our 1980 show exists however, no one seems to know where it is! The past corps Director does not know. Is there anyone who has any videos of the corps PRIOR to 1981? Thanks!

Tampa Bay Thunder DCA Evaluation
GoldMonster replied to friceox's topic in DCA - All-Age Corps Discussions
Congrats....and this was my favorite line from their website: OPEN CLASS! Tampa Bay Thunder Drum & Bugle Corps is now an official member of DCA Open class & DCA South. -
So does that mean that both of the corps have passed the DCA evaluation or is it like a circuit approval as DCA South does. I hope it is all good news though!

Any senior corps looking for DM's, ADM's?!

Senior corps? I haven't heard of those in a while....might you be asking about All-Age Corps? LOL. It's a great activity! Best of luck!! -
Sun Devils camp cancelled
GoldMonster replied to Sun Devils Corps's topic in DCA - All-Age Corps Discussions
I like my story better.....They have so many people coming to camp that the safety regulations stated that the building could not hold that many people. ;) -
There are corps that start in November and December and some that wait until January. Was the reason you chose to do a later Open House to give the members and staff more down time, less stress during the holidays, etc OR was it because you found that you had a smaller dropout rate come June. I have always been curious about this. If this topic has previously been discussed, please let me know what the results were. Thanks!

With Kidsgrove not coming back, it makes it 10 in Open class. Alliance Bucs Bush Cabs CV Empire Hurcs Kilties MBI Renegades Unless I missed someone folding (as I shudder). I REALLY hope that all the corps above are coming out....plus a few more in Open! D.

But still closer for any corps south of DC. I think that more corps will benefit from this move. It's worth a shot!

Sun Devils Jamestown, NY Travel Thread
GoldMonster replied to John M. Johnson's topic in DCA - All-Age Corps Discussions
Congrats Sun Devils on a great first contest score!!! I am glad to hear that you made it home safely. And am glad you were able to find a way to get the equipment home. There are some great folks involved with Sun Devils, but everyone knows that all it takes are a few break downs and the corps budget gets crazy! If any of you can, please send a donation of any size to the Sun Devils to help them in this situation. It is INCREDIBLE to have corps like this travel great distances in this economy. So throw them a few bucks and say thanks for a job well done. Let them know the drum corps community supports them! Sincerely, Dwayne PS...Sun Devils did not ask for this request to be posted. They are a proud organization....I just know that situations like this are tough!! -
Cool, we didn't realize there was going to be a fair there! Awesome. LOL

Yes, the member actually went through some serious hardships....but is now happily employed AND is now expecting a child! So good wishes all around. But in the meantime.... We are now accepting CONTRA applications that are maybe not so serious of an inquiry....good sense of humor...can understand a country twang....knows and appreciates what grits are....and quite possibly be dedicated to finishing the season with us! THANKS! www.carolinagold.org

BTW....I heard Music City Legend at the parade site. I guess we should all be sighing relief that the corps didn't go Class A. Nice strong sound. But then again....it sure would be nice to have you guys on the field this season!!! And remember folks there are a few DCA corps in the Chase voting. Vote for us ALL!!!!
