Bushwackers are getting through a tough situation

Recommended Posts

Drumcorps would not be drumcorps without adversity. If drumcorps was easy, it wouldn’t be such a meaningful experience, and the bonds we form would not be as strong and as permanent as they are.

And, those stories that drumcorps people tend to tell: we tend to become storytellers because there are so many amazing and inspirational stories to tell.

This is one of those stories.

The Bushwacker equipment trailer was stolen last week. The Bushwackers used that trailer as a mobile storage facility for our instruments and other equipment, so we lost all of our equipment. Everything has to be replaced: battery, pit, horns, guard equipment, tools, a generator, and many other things. Thankfully, our unique uniforms were NOT in the trailer.

After contacting the police and our insurance company, we contacted our friends. Our insurance company has already agreed to quickly compensate us for our loss, but it is the kindness of friends that has truly warmed our hearts and has let us know that we will be ok.

Jersey Surf’s Bob Jacobs was one of the first to offer help. Surf members will be performing with new horns this season, and Mr. Jacobs has offered us an entire set of Bb Dynasty horns (72 instruments). Other friends have offered help with percussion instruments and guard equipment as well as brass instruments. The Bushwackers are truly grateful to have such wonderful friends.

Thanks to some awesome people, the April 26 and 27 camp will take place as scheduled, and our plans for “Gypsodic!” have not changed.

Please visit http://www.bushwackers.org if you would like information on how to join, how to help, or if you’d like to run the serial number of some instrument for sale on E-bay by us.

Just wanted to give a heart-felt thanks to the members and administrators of the Jersey Surf. Even in different organisations, drum corps still help each other help!

Class act all the way!

As having Mr. Jacobs as my director for the past two years, I am proud to say that he has had such a great influence on my life. Things like this are reasons why I love the Jersey Surf. BTW I look forward to hopefully be marching with you guys this year Bush.

Great news, there! You play Baritone right? Well, its not really a small world but I'm the bari section leader! I look forward to meeting you at a rehearsal hopefully soon!

Yea, Bari or Euph, whichever is needed really. I'm still trying to convince my parents, they are giving me a little bit of a hard time, but when I come up to the rehearsal, I'll have some of the administration talk to them to hopefully sway their decision.

Why are we recruiting for DCA corps in the Open Class Section?????

Try a Open Class corps where YOU will be with KIDS your own age and you won't have to march with people as old as your parents!

He said he was in Surf the last 2 years, hence his response.

Also, we have a lot of 'KIDS' in the corps, many under 21, and actually quite a small few over 30.

And the point of this post here I'm guessing is too warn everyone in the community to be on the lookout of things being sold in mass quantities, since there are some people in my area who do march in Junior corps. Had you looked over the site, you would have seen the same blanket post went to numerous forums, since 'most' in drum corps are always looking to help out others, whether it be Junior corps or All-Age.

Thanks for the quality of your reply!

Thanks to everyone else for your concerns and offering to help us out.

Normally I would be, but circumstances like summer classes for college prevented me this summer...
