Xsnaredrummer Posted February 19, 2009 Share Posted February 19, 2009 EXCELSIOR and The Targets are really looking forward to this alliance. The buz in both corps is like kids in a candy store!! We both agree that the styles of DCI vs. DCA will mix well here. Also many of targets(and other corps) age-outs that were unsure what a DCA corps would be like are excited to see that with EXCELSIOR they can still get some of the DCI feel. You guys are promoting tons and tons but you're completely unclear about which corps people are participating in (I'm guessing EXCELSIOR is the main corps) and what exactly you're doing (assumedly being the DCA corps EXCELSIOR.) THEEXCELSIORDIRECTOR Posted February 20, 2009 Share Posted February 20, 2009 This year we are on the field as EXCELSIOR because the confirmation date has passed for any other options - We are an alliance this year and it will be announced on the field that way - we are very excited to have The Targets be a part of the organization this year - They are a great group ... Both youth and staff alike are very talented ~ and will be a great addition to the EXCELSIOR & DCA family. There's a lot of publicity going around here now. The Targets were deciding to field DCA this year and EXCELSIOR became the vehicle in which to do that. This is an excellent alliance as the Director and staff of EXCELSIOR are all DCI Corps Allums. AVANT GARDE/ The Volunteers/ TARGETS etc. and with that comes the opportunity to really make an impression in the DCA arena. The Targets are enjoying the ease of schedule that a DCA corps affords ~ while still participating in the activity they have come to love. DCA has grown quite a bit - there are 14 A Class corps and 13 Open Class corps. This year with the transition we are pushing to maintain the under 65 members divsion of Class A - However the TARGETS are go getters and they, having been class III for so long are loving the growth explosion of this Alliance and have challenged us to grow again - and become an Open Class Corps in 2010. For them,and us, that has become EXCELSIOR's TARGET !!!! Exactly. THEEXCELSIORDIRECTOR Posted February 20, 2009 Share Posted February 20, 2009 A great deal of frustration was had by all in 2008 ~ - It is great thing however - that the staff and administration of the TARGETS were strong enough to continue to push forward and make decisions for the corps that were in its best insterest. The TARGETS are excited with their new show for 2009- The horn players are great and in true DCI form - have learned the show in about 2 practices. Love that !!!! It is so great to be standing side by side with this corps. The DCA family is looking forward to this years performance - Robin Hood ~ The Prince of Theives The show tunes are MIDO NIGOR - Gregorhian Chant Opener with snipit of ROBIN HOOD Prince of Theives The NEMESIS - A Knights Tale EVERYTHING I DO I DO FOR YOU- Maid Marian solo ~ ROBIN HOOD - The Ballad ARTHUR IS BORN- The Mists of Avalon a celetic drum feature ROBIN HOOD - Finale. The hornline has completed the book. - Yes things do move faster in the DCA arena - because you have everyone available all winter. The Drum line is completed with the first 2 tunes. Colorguard is 6 sets into the drill. We are camping this weekend 2/21-22 in NEW YORK ~ with future camps and rehearsal to move closer to the MASS / NY Borders ~ Some of the CT folks are meeting Springfield groups in MASS to follow down - so if you need a ride or would like to follow them - please let us know. EXCELSIOR / TARGETS I'm not the most informed person when it comes to Targets.....did something happen last season?Hope to see you on the field in 09! EXCELSIOR's parent company however : EXCELSIOR Visual and Performing Arts Association is always working towards mutiple divisions - like EXCELSIOR PRODUCTIONS - their Theater Company. We are looking to do In door - Percussion Ensembles , Brass Ensembles, Winter Guard etc. making for an all year participation in growth and performance for our members. The future goal will be to have a Cadet Corps that will function and operate in the DCI Arena. For now ~ The Capital District NY & Western Mass. - are looking to get back on the map for competitive Drum Corps - This Alliance is the first step towards realizing that dream, KUDOS to the TARGETS staff for having the courage to do it. 20 years ago - there were 16 corps between the two areas. Alot of people crossed the borders and went to other corps. We are looking to bring them back home AND... as a DCA corps, ALL AGE ~ we can even offer the alumni of the area to do more then teach.
