  1. Well, I think they are probably starting things at the right time at least. Considering this news is coming out now, and not month/s from now. Best of luck.
  2. 1) As far as I understood when it was left off in topics here before when they were going through the whole bankrupt thing, they still had possesion of the equipment and uniforms. They sold the hall so that should have taken care of the majority of money in debt. 2) How would you go about membership? Would you really turn away from any route that could yield potential members? Why not do every avenue you have to gain bodies? Why close this topic yet? There hasn't been any flaming or crazy talk really? Do we need to close a topic when someone ruins it? Yes. Do we need to close every message that is posted that 'could lead to an argument'? No. Adults can have disagreements, hopefully this thread continues to be 'flame-free' so to speak.
  3. This is a good thing for New England area drum corps. Having another team back in the mix will help revive kids interest in actually marching open class corps instead of just kicking around in HS Band or doing nothing at home. I hope that there is now a legitimate 3 team mix-up with the Spartans from NH, the Citations from MA, and the 7th Regiment from CT.
  4. This probably is a bad/unnecessary idea for a thread. I'm sure they get your point, but, don't rattle the cage by starting a whole extra thread. Go call out people for bashing in the thread where its happening.
  5. http://www.drumcorpsplanet.com/forums/inde...howtopic=127053 There is already one of these open.
  6. Are you the same people who were involved with Lehigh Valley Knights? If so, you should come back as the Lehigh Valley Knights. I miss those guys, good quality group.
  7. I know that all of the articles we have been reading on here came from the Nashua Telegraph, but I don't know if there are any substantial sayings of a forced step down. I searched the website and didn't pull anything up so maybe the articles were taken down. Half of them were EdOp anyways. Regardless, I wish the best of luck to the organization, now that (in many opinions) the problem is being taken care of. Paul Jr. is a great man and can hopefully right the ship. I'm sure he wouldn't be doing this if he did have the desire to turn the group into something positive again.
  8. New Balance is going to completely own this vote.
  9. Why is 3D back as the newest thing in the world? Everything lately seems to be in 3D. There was a superbowl commercial or some NBC show, and that valentine movie recently. Like, I remember being in the 90's and having stupid looking 3d glasses on while I was at the "Honey I Shrunk the Kids" ride in Disney World. I just don't really get why the resurgence of 3D is like super awesome now, when it was already around, and only mildly entertaining.
  10. Hey man, like I said, I'm pretty unfamiliar with everyone else outside of New England. Just because I'm around here doesn't mean I'm staffing them, just giving a little 'eastside love' to 7th and Citations, considering they are all I really have left to watch with a little Spartans thrown on the side (but who knows what that whole deal is.) While I'm respect your disagreements, this isn't a thread about your personal top 12, this is a thread about someone looking for places to march.
  11. Yeah, it probably is for another topic but, I'll put in two cents before I move on. New England is ripe with plenty of musicians, just nobody is marching, especially with the current situations of some of these troubled groups. I know that I chose not to march Boston because the camps were in FL, even after being offered a spot. I went to the camp that was actually in Boston... so why can't they just stay in Boston. [/personal gripe] Most people I know around here are going down to Cadets or not marching at all (which is a shame).
  12. I dig the bass heads, only because of the muffling system but, I've used the snare and tenor heads for the past 4 years of my life and I hate them. They're more durable, but they sound like pillow on tenors. The only thing worth a lick on tenors are the MXFrost, but those aren't even that great, the coating comes off quickly, and they're far less durable than the rest of the Evans line. I am a strong, biased user of Vic, Pearl, Remo and Zildjian. There is no other choice for a truly professional sound.
  13. All I know is New England. Spartans are struggling to survive. Citations may be a bet, but I've heard they are pretty full from people I know in there. Being in the CT area, I've seen 7th Regiment a bit and they look much stronger, I'm betting finalist. Apparently that post that the news feed just did says they are still looking. Probably trying to fill out the larger brassline they just bought.
  14. It's gotta be 04. Absolutely hands down. Best the corps had ever been, and it took quite the finals week to do it.
  15. Why don't YOU give it a break, because everyone was talking POSITIVE comments until yours showed up. GTFO.
  16. And what I'm saying is that if someone has information, they can post as many tidbits on DCP as they damnn well please. Just because some information is new to you doesn't mean that the FBI is going to be busting down someone's door with a van in the driveway. I know what the Patriot Act is, trust me, and I'm telling you this forum is probably the least of an investigator's concerns. The fire that he was speaking of was apparently set by a homeless man lighting the equipment trucks up with all the equipment in them during the offseason, of 1998 I believe. Not positive on the year, but these aren't deep dark secrets that are only being kept in the corners of his mind, severely altering a dramatic court case in silver screen fashion. Nope, this is just somewhat common knowledge to those who have been fully involved with the group. This is why he called it 'hearsay' there is not necessarily substantial truth, just bouncing of ideas. Nobody is going to leave this forum and suddenly crack the case of the 98 fire and be a some kind of superhero. Hearsay is us posting an opinion, something that can't really be used in a court case unless your considered an expert of your field. Unfortunately for you, I don't think they'd take a 'drum corps expert' for his opinions. This isn't a murder trial here, get with the program. There will always be hearsay running around this board: Why wasn't the corps equipment in the hall during the offseason? That's kind of standard procedure for operation, after you return from tour, you unload the stuff into the hall, I've had to do it. Why would a homeless man intentionally set fire to two equipment trucks, in order to light a truck on fire, I'm sure it actually takes a good amount of work, they don't just go up like newspaper. So there's my hearsay. If you don't like my tidbits, don't post here.
  17. So you think that an internet message board is big on the list of criteria for a federal investigation, because even the feds know that everything on here HAS to be true right? (EDIT: I have no idea what is and what is not true, nobody does, except for people directly involved with the situation in question.) I mean, people are entitled to their opinions so let him hearsay all he wants to. If you have such a gripe with this board, don't post on it.
  18. True enough. Nothing is fully successful yet. They are very much still in deep with financial problems, though everyone seems to have the feeling that things will be okay as long as Peter is stepping down.
  19. It seems that the potential success in inextricably linked with Peter's stepping down. Hopefully things will go well with a better administration.
  20. http://www.nashuatelegraph.com/apps/pbcs.d...ION01/303019952 Also in this article, the LATE Albert "Berdie" LaFlamme is certainly not dead. He is living and well.
  21. I think he was referencing a core, as in a small central group of people, not a drum corps.
  22. So, CT no matter how many times you pull a whoops, or how many times you retype your sentence for emphasis, or how many times you try to ridicule other members, or how many times you layer on another level of ineffective sarcasm, the Spartans are STILL IN A FISCAL BIND. I'm not so sure you understand the reality of the situation. 50 years of etc etc has nothing to do with the current level of sustainability found in this corps.
  23. The Iron Chef Chairman actually starred as one of the main characters for the "DOUBLE DRAGON" feature film!
  24. Ridicule him if you really want to, but 20 years of history or not, we are living in a present day situation where the Spartans are currently under the whim of the bank. So until something changes, this has nothing to do with a forum member 'waving his finger' and everything to do with a REAL financial bind. Also, if you're going to come on here waving your history flag, why don't you actually get it right. The Spartans were founded in 1955, 2005 was recently the 50 year anniversary of the corps. So, again, before you make a feeble attempt to 'educate' someone of historical 'information,' why don't you spend the 2 minutes it takes to study, and get the info right.
