84BDsop
The BoD of En Garde has elected to hold off on attempting to start the corps until the general economy improves. it's just too iffy to ask members to reform, especially since beginning corps tend to be member funded much of the time. Here's a copy of the email sent out to those on the mailing list. We will attempt to come out in the future....right now just isn't the right time. ------------ To all; Here’s the status on En Garde as a corps. Due to the current economic situation that most of us are faced with, and after discussions with Roy Hanan as well as Dave Tautkus (thus essentially convening the entire Board of Directors), we feel it would be more prudent to hold off for at least another year and give the economy time to recover The single largest factor that kept us off the field for ‘08 was the lack of members....and finances were a large part of that. The economy needs to improve to the point where people can have some discretionary funds to pay for corps, even with our small tour fees and schedule. En Garde has not, repeat, NOT folded....we plan to attempt to bring the corps out in 2011 or 2012, economic conditions permitting. The joy of doing the Sr corps route is if you have a pulse, you’re in! If you are of Jr age and can march elsewhere, please do so...you will do yourself good. If you have aged out, we look forward to having you in the line when we reform. Sam Signorelli Director
G-horns
A responsible decision which should bring the corps respect and admiration. I know on the "left coast" you have to pay to be in a parade, but maybe if you can find a sponsor a few parades might help to fill the gap and get the corps' name out in the public. Some parades out here pay....Huntington Beach 4th of July, for one. We'll certainly consider it in the future. *sigh* Why does making a responsible deicision hurt so much??
