Oh Baby!

Bridgeport PAL!!! Dennis Banks is smiling somewhere up there..

Hope they use the brass lacquer horns like the old PAL...

Connecticut is turning back into a hot-bed, and with the qualitiy of the band programs down there, this should be great!!!

THIS IS NOT MEANT TO BE A PERSONAL ATTACK:

But,

1. For how long have you been raising funds for this new DCI-bound corps? What kind of permanent funding sources do you have up and running? Have you raised at least $100K toward equipment, facilities, etc.?

2. Who are these staff members with all of this experience? What currently-active DCI corps have they taught/written for? What other educational experience do they bring to the table?

3. Who is on the Board of Directors? What is their current drum corps management experience? Who is the Corps Director, Business Manager, Tour Manager, Publicity Director, Fundraising Director?

etc., etc.

Sorry, but there have been too many "announcements" on DCP the last few years about new OC corps that have been disappointments at best. Remember Magic of Mobile, Hypnotix, Salina Silver Sabres, the new OK corps, etc., etc.?

Not sure what point a post like this is trying to make. Yes, we all know there's a ton to do to get a corps up and running. But if it's a brand new corps, it doesn't have to be a "name" staff, we don't need to know the names of everyone and their dog associated with the organization, and we CERTAINLY don't need downer posts like this one in the first 5 minutes of their existence.

Bucs - good luck on a long and successful future. You've got a long road ahead and I hope you travel it with skill. It's always great to see another new corps taking the first brave steps.

PAL BUCCANEERS are not actually new, in a sense. They have been around for a few years, and basically just did some activities surrounding the Barnum Festival events. My niece was a part of their guard for a few and enjoyed it immensely. it was somthing for the "younger" youth in the Bpt area to do!!

BRAVO...It is nice to NOW know they are taking the next step in wanting to field a competitive corps.

I know some of there staff, they do have the experience and abilities and know what they are doing. I am sure they will make announcements as needed.

And your right Ray.. Dennis probably lit up the cigar on that one ! As well did a few others. :)

My best to the Bucs... its great to see the names of two GREAT CONNECTICUT Jr. corps, known in the 60's and early 70's , as part of the BEASTS FROM THE EAST, being discussed in drum corps circles again! :thumbs-up:

This is a group a people trying to get kids involved while still acting as a community organization. :thumbs-up:

I think it's great that they are reaching out and trying to expand the membership, they have a ton of local support, equipment and practice facilities.

How many new corps have we seen drop like a lead ballon around here? 99% of the people starting corps usually boast of full horn lines, corporate sponsors and deep pockets and barely make it as a parade corps or indoor drumline. How many of you have run a corps? How many have been successful at it? A very, very, very small amount. It's easy to sit here and be negative, how about taking a step back and showing an ounce of support.

The PAL Bucs have been a small organization for a few years now and are looking to get a little bigger, good for them!
