adem
Hi everyone... I am a member of the Task Force of a fairly large local colorguard circuit with many A class units in competition. We are considering splitting our A class classes into three divisions from the current two - one of our Task Force's "tasks" is to investigate what other circuits are doing with their A classes. So please let us know what your local competition environment is like... Do you have two A Classes or three? - If two, do you follow the WGI regional A sheets for one and the A sheets for the other? - If three, how is your criteria divided? National A, Intermediate A (non-wgi), Regional A? - What is your promotion protocol? Pre-season vs In-season? What works? what doesnt? Thanks
quegrawks
In SFWGA (Florida) there were 3 A classes: "B" , "A", and "National A" National A being guards that plan to attend, or do indeed attend WGI Finals. Then of course there was Regional A. So technically you might call that "4" A classes. In TCGC there are 4 classes also: "Regional A", "AAA", "AA", and "A". In both circuits Regional A had separate sheets from the other A classes. All the other groups used WGI "A" class sheets. By the way, this was just for Scholastic groups. Independent Groups were either Independent A/Cadet or A class, with no further breakdown in classification. In season promotions seem to happen very rarely, although there are guidelines for them. Same for "demotions" as well. No matter what you decide, people will be unhappy. Do what is best for the MAJORITY of the groups and to help your circuit grow stronger. Jeremy Denzer
In NESBA we have 4 A classes. Scholastic Regional A, AA, Local Scholastic A and National Scholastic A. The SRA and AA classes are judged on WGI regional A sheets. LSA and NSA are on the WGI A sheets. When we had more guards in the circuit we had A1, A2, AA and AAA. All four were on the Regional A sheets.
SpartanGuard
We have a bit of a weird system in Michigan. We have Scholastic/Independent (WGI) A, then a series of regional classes below that. In descending order: AA, AAA, A, Flag Line, Auxiliary.

Wondering how many units comprise the total A classes for each of the circuits responding.
N Murphy
The Indiana High School Color Guard Assoc. (IHSCGA) has 3 A classes. AAA, AA, and A. All 3 are scored on the Regional A score sheets, but AAA and AA are 'divisions' of the A class, and have Divisional Finals. Only class A groups can go to State Prelims and qualify for State Finals. TCGC: Last year there were 33 scholastic Regional A, 20 Scholastic AAA, 18 Scholastic AA, 21 Scholastic A. SFWGA: Last year 11 Scholastic B, 5 JV (this is a new class that didn't exist when I lived there), 7 Scholastic A, 3 National A.
