Cadetsnare
For those of you who have seen the Cavaliers: How do the new snares using mylar sound in the mix?? I absolutely love the balance and blend of mylar, and wonder how it's being utilized, and is it effective? I've been waiting for a battery to use that color since Glassmen did in the early 2000s. Are they using the Powerstroke 77s? (That's the only real option since Premier stopped making the Marathon batter, which, BTW, is the coolest snare head ever devised!) tempotantrum
It's mylar, but it's not the sound you are used to. They are using 14X9 piccolo snares, along with Falam II Snare side heads with the Powerstrokes. When the entire corps plays, they tend to get lost in the sound. The drum solo with the mylar is cool though.

Actually they had mylar on the bottom at Allentown on Friday, for the most part I like the sound on the piccolos but even in warm up as they played they detuned quickly as you expected. I thought they would only use them for a part of the show, when they really use them for about half maybe a little less. very cool effect. I am pretty sure they are using they are using powerstroke 77 Edited June 20, 2010 by a10er4life04
