BozzlyB
Beautiful night for drum corps, very nice crowd at the brand new stadium in La Crosse. Blue Stars Cadets, props to the people keeping this group going. Quite small, entertainment based on cute factor but a nice way to ease into the evening. Jungle based show, DM proves his versatilit Govies were entertaining, only all age corps in attendance. Definite step in the right direction, few nice moments from the corps as a whole. Colt Cadets. WHAT! Where did these guys come from! Best I've ever seen them, could challenge for OC tiLtle in a few years if keep headed in the right direction. S Legend. Love these uniforms on the field. Wasn't convinced they would beat Colt Cadets but they did edge them out. Don't remember much about the show, pretty good drum moments at times but quite dirty overall. World Class: Teal Sound. I had low expectations for some reason, but this corps surprised me a bit. Nice big step up in sound and quality. Corps proper uniforms look good on the field, the DM ones do not. Very nice moments from this corps, well coordinated impacts, nice moments from the snare line in particular. Thought they could have scored a tad higher. Madison Scouts. Feel good drum corps . Great nostalgic music. Visual program too 80's, seems like very low demand compared to their competition. Drumline much better than anticipated, pretty clean but not a terribly demanding book, nice feature in Rhapsody. Hornline sounds good but don't sound as big as they look, not even close. Got no more low end from them than from the other big hornlines. This corps is performing this show pretty well, may run into early peaking due to low demand. Appropriate score/spread. Troopers. Not a very memorable show, really not on the same level as Madison IMO. Uniforms look nice. Bluecoats. Unbelievable drumline, could challenge for drum title, should be bigger spread in drums over Crown. Visual and musical demand seems on a different level than crown. Corps is incredibly tight, horn line seemed quiet in comparison to Crown and Blue Stars, but beautiful sound and technically performing very well. I had them over Crown by less than a pt. Crown. Other than a few mind numbing hornline moments this show seemed very uninteresting after Bluecoats. Drumline struggling, and I mean struggling. Should have been 3rd in drums, drum judge had it close by a few tenths but didn't have the balls to do it. No excitement to this show whatsoever. Blue Stars. It's cleaner, with plenty left to clean. 2nd loudest hornline behind Crown. Drumline should have been in 2nd, line is playing VERY well but is still a tad inconsistent. This show can come off a bit crowded, with too much happening at once. Demand of this show extremely high, with 4 weeks of cleaning left they are poised to peak at just the right time. joeb
Bozz, your such a BLUE COATS honk! BTW all was not lost. My kids baseball team won their tournament last night. Drum corps will be around for a long time (crosses fingers) but watching him play ball will not have fun in MSP Edited July 17, 2010 by joeb
