  1. Havent been to a DC show in a few years. Heres the truth..........It's a better product then it was five years ago for sure.... Troopers always love them. Could never march with them. Crossmen......Blah.. Show did nothing for me. I dont see them any where near Blue Stars in a couple weeks. with out a major overhaul. Blue Stars.....Very cool show. Very well designed. Love the drum book, and the set player. Clean it, get in te rewrites. Top 12 no doubt. Boston.....Very nice program. a few lulls. but who doesnt have those. (there called ballads) Cavies......Drum line is killer. The show is a little ADHD for me busy, busy, busy, but cool BLOOOOOOOOOOOO.....Best Blue Coats show Ive seen in along time........Top 6?
  2. I have stopped posting on this ridiculous site for several reasons. I will spare you the drama of that though. (Bozz) Please, please, seek help for DCP addiction! I will sponsor you! Two things... first.. the fact that this conversation is taking place is a win for the Blue Stars.. They are not the only corps to take a step back now and then. Lets go back in time 10 or 20 years. If the corps were still that we'd be on a different forum. Success is based on the Motto FCO. And believe me 2011 is not the end. Now, I will admit that I am really, really getting tired of the BOA references when it comes to the Blue Stars. I have know freaking idea who Tarpin Springs is but could all of you (including the design team) keep the hell away from My Blue Stars. I have loved the shows the last few years but am sickened by the constant comparisons to marching band. Marching Bands should be a dirty little secret that bad ### drum corps kids don't talk about after the season is over. PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD KNOW MORE BOA CRAP..... And if your a goofy little wanna be drum corps band goober join a corps, or keep your opinions to your self. Let's hope that in twelve the Blue Team comes out in Grey unis, and white flags, stands in one place for eleven minutes, and tears your FN faces off! Now, on with the show
  3. So, can you buy just a single corps performance on FN? Or do you have to buy the entire show?
  4. Are there no VOD's or what ever their called for this show?
  5. Bozz, your such a BLUE COATS honk! BTW all was not lost. My kids baseball team won their tournament last night. Drum corps will be around for a long time (crosses fingers) but watching him play ball will not have fun in MSP
  6. After one read all I'm gonna say is if this isn't a top 5 or top 6 corps, then congrats to the corps who are. Because they will be exceptional!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This show is twisted good!!!!!!
  7. One of my Fav's, was Regiment 89... Early, they had a killer sixteenth note ride cymbal thingy. By finals it was reduced to eights. Stupid change. This almost ruined the show for me!
  8. thank you so much for this review. I really enjoyed how you break things down. It's obvious that you have quite a bit of experience. Hence the importance of detail. I have only seen one Blue Stars Performance once this season. The ending you saw is different then the one I saw. You stated that it does not match the energy/intensity of the rest of the show. I am curious how? It is a new ending. So I am wondering if you feel it is not being performed as well? Or is it a design issue? I have heard a few brief descriptions of the new ending, and am disappointed to hear that it lacks intensity and energy. Could you help me wrap my head around the new ending? thanks and well done
  9. Brad Furlano has been involved with the Blue Stars since 1982....I some shape or form.
  10. WTF! get off the drum lines back.... Drummers are a dime a dozen. These kids for the most part were new to each other! C-mon do you have some sort of personal thing with the drum staff? THEY GOT 10th Remember FCO! it aint over
  11. yep, Im sure if the slim margin will stand or not. Im sure looking foreward to the battle though...Good luck to both!
  12. Thats's it Butler wins. Close the thread! Butler, you better not slack out of the Ofest parade again!
  13. Dave, I marched in the old uni, I marched under the old hood. I would have much preffered to march in the current gear then what I marched in. Wow, Im starting to sound a little bitt like I hated when I marched. I didn't. I loved when I marched I loved who I marched with. I am the Blue Stars. Yes things are different very different. If I were to have disapeared for the a few years and all of a sudden showed up at a random show, I may not recognize this corps. Maybe not until they were introduced. But you know what I would have said after I figured out who they were....... "Man those unis look amazing" Again, I congradulate the Executive comitte, the BOD, and any one else who had this difficult desicion to make. You did right by me Things were going to change. It's impossible to go through life with out evolving. It was time.
  14. Yes, what would happin is as soon as there was movement the helmet would slide from side to side back and forth. There would always be a member with their plume pointing straight back field, or towards side one or two. Many times the thing would simply fall of the back of the head. At least twice a year this would happen. The only thing keeping it from hitting the ground wa the chain. It almost took a freeking nail to keep the helmet in place.
  15. If our helmets looked as good on us as SCV's hats do on them we would have never needed to change
  16. Many hours have been spent discussing and cussing the helmets. I believe they even aproached the origanal desinger a couple of times trying to re-desing them for a better fit. I like being different, I like being the Blue Stars, I did not like the helmets. I think re-desinging them was possible. But I think they just looked goofy..... Again, I am not a shako fan. I told the director this when he asked what I thought. But, They look better, alot better! NO MORE FREAKING FORE HEADS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The firts show I watched on FN this year with multi camera, some horn person turned around and put their horn down. I could have landed an air plane on that fore head. It's just goofy to look like that on the field.... Shakos are fine
  17. um, no not a mistake......very smart move put a shako on, march 8 to 5's across a field at say 185 bpm's. Then put the egg head on and do the same. Then tell what helmet is better?
  18. As a former member, I applaud this move. I did miss the broadcast, so I really didn't get a chance to see the new look. But, trust me the egg heads had to go. Way to many fore heads have been seen by these clumsy things. Believe me when I say that history, is history, and yes I wore one of those things alot. I never liked them. Not in the least. Those helmets are history!!!!! I couldnt be happier I'm not a big fan of shakos either, but I will take them If I don't have to see fore heads any more! Im sure they new helmets look great!!!!!!!!!!!!! FCO
  19. I would love to see this at shows. A roaming camera between performances would be really cool. But, I think lagistically it would be almost impossible. At least impossible live. And even taped, then edited, then broadcast would be very difficult. I'd hate to see the amount of gear involved if they tried to do it live. But it would be really killer if they could afford to pull it off.
  20. Other then the corps I marched in. The (Cadets) have always been my Fav... Since the first time I saw them in 88, when the drum line was moving to the gate for 1/4's.. What a bad ### bunch of Moe, Fo's!! I have the utmost respect for this organization, it's staff, members, and history. I have been knocked on my butt by them more times then any other corps, ever.... 88, 89, wow! 86 OMG!! year, after year, they blew me away!! countless amazing tenor solos, amazing horns books, you name it they've done it. So it really pisses me off when I get completely jazzed about seeing them perform, only to have to shut it off after like two minutes because of all the rambling on about (nothing). They should apologize to me for loving them, and then spitting in my face... I'm glad you enjoy there most recent shows, I am just very sorry that I cannot.... I think Hop is on to something towards the evolution of drum corps.....But, this crap is not it..... sorry
  21. So how do you see tonight? Boston Blue Knigts Blue stars or Blue Nights Blue Stars Boston Im guessing the first But am hoping for the second
  22. Not to sound like a #####. But can some one explain to me how the Colts are on after the Blue Stars in the day? Not that performance order matters:)
