rockinbrass
Figured we could play this game with the bookends of shows since we have a ballad topic.
tommytimp
"Entrance and March of the Peers" from Gilbert and Sullivan's Iolanthe. (Also known as "Loudly Let the Trumpet Bray.") It amazes me that no corps has ever tried this piece in the modern era. It is brass and percussion personified. tuscaber1
Theme from Patton... This was the OTL for the "Los Angeles Chinese Imperial Dragons Drum and Bugle Corps" in 1972.

FHdork
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H3RKqvknVYc The whole show could be this one composition...of which I post a link to the opening movement (short brass fanfare...which ends at 2:12 mark) and the 2nd movement connected without pause - The other 3 movements are also wonderful - and the greatest part is that at the end...after Janacek's wonderful musical sense and orchestration...he brings that fanfare back to close out the work in 'made for drum corps' cyclic style! Here's the final movement...just for fun! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ubqSnAc0itg...feature=related And for you brass purists: this is the Czech Philharmonic...the ONLY orchestra that can truly capture Janacek (imo...duh...) - you'll hear some 'wild' brass playing...all part of that marvelous Czech tradition!
