Galen Posted December 26, 2010 Author Share Posted December 26, 2010 The Sweepstakes contest was started up a couple seasons ago to reward corps for consistent performance over the course of the season. There are a series of events on the calendar that are designated as "Sweepstakes events" (usually the weekend events) where the top 6 finishing corps in each division earn points based on their finishing position. Those points accumulate over the course of the season and at the end of the season, the totals are calculated and a winner is declared for each division AND the overall highest-scoring corps regardless of division. Polaris Regiment maintain their lead in World class, but many corps are still in contention. Menagerie have taken over the lead in Open Class, but a tight battle remains between several corps. Chicago Enforcers and Black Diamond have both been making big moves in that division and will be corps to keep an eye on. In Class A, the undefeated streaks of Inland Empire Elite and Nastalgia Percussion came to an end, but both remain tied at the top of the standings and in the overall lead. 2 corps (Mystre and Ferndale City Council) were only awarded one score after attempting to register for multiple sweepstakes events in one weekend.
