Mr. Know it all Posted April 11, 2011 Share Posted April 11, 2011 Several guards/designers this season really embraced the new opportunity to use lighting effects in their shows. Black Watch, Alter Ego and others showed us a glimmer (pun intended) of what's possible for lighting design within the color guard activity. So, now that you've seen lighting used in a few shows, what are your thoughts and reactions...??? Battery powered lights I can get with but when you are requiring electricity for your show, come on. I loved West Johnston but I was like Plasma Screens, seriously? Also, when did all this pre-show stuff start? I don't mind the pre-show stuff as long as you can tell it's PRE SHOW. When Opus 10 started I was super confused and thought I missed the "you may now take the floor in finals competition". Everyone was looking around like doofuses(is that a word?LOL) wondering if the show had started. As far as the lighting and special effects...I LOVE them when used sparingly.
