gcurrier
The Knights "The Legend of Lake Murray" The Knights will honor both their new home and old traditions in The Legend of Lake Murray! Lake Murray is one of the worlds largest man-made reservoirs in the world (at its completion the largest) just outside our new home in Columbia SC and we will explore a boys adventure out on the lake to discovering what lies beneath. Sea Slumber Song-Elgar from Sea Pictures--provides the taking off point where our young lad plays further and further away from his family along the shore line. As he turns to look back at his family, he at first does not realize that his small boat has now grown to be enormous behind him. Titanic Overture The Musical-the piece will play significance as our youth now take command of his very large vessel to take on the seas. The piece is also the first song the corps ever played on a competitive field originally as the White Knights in FDCI. In Haven/Sabbath Morning at Sea-Elgar from Sea Pictures the journey continues out to sea and then suddenly it gets very rough in Der Fliegende Hollander Overture by Wagner as the crew struggles to keep the ship afloat. Hook Suite -John Williams soon our young captain and his crew discover that there are pirates on the lake! Hook is another White Knight classic show. The crew doesn't fret or give in and they ultimately win the battle and finish the section with Victory at Sea-Richard Rodgers The sea adventure continues as they move along wondering what adventure lies next Felix Mendelssohn : The Hebrides (Fingal's Cave) - Overture They find their next adventure with sea nymphs from the depths of the lake and celebrate in dance Thunder and Lightning Polk Strauss When your all alone from Hook /The Swimmer-Elgar from Sea Pictures remind us that our hero is still just a boy who misses home and longs for his mother. Our boy says good by to his new friends from the sea THE Tales of Hoffman Offenbach and concludes in the ship setting sail now looking for the shore in search of our captains mother. The Moldau-Smetana (a recent Knight success at DCPI) as he arrives to shore he shares with his mother stories of the adventure pointing to each across the back of the field as color guard depicts scenes from the adventures. Les Blanc Chevalier Apocalyptic Dreams, David Gillingham, This composition is David Gillingham's first symphony for winds and percussion and is cast in three continuous movements expressing the events of the "Apocalypse" through music. The corps will continue through the piece without interruption as well. The events, however, are only imaginary as they would unfold in a rather bizarre dream. The first movement, "The Vision", sets the general mood for the entire symphony in that there is a prophetic and unimaginable vision of the end of the world. Marked "ferocious", the second movement, "Cataclysmic Events", alludes to the chain of cosmic cataclysms. The pealing of chimes begins the third movement, "Messianic Kingdom". The obvious reference of this movement is to the second coming of the Messiah, beginning with a chorale-like section in the low brass, progressing to a rainbow of solos and climaxing with the glorious Lutheran chorale by Johann Schop, "Break Forth O Beauteous Heavenly Light".
