amysnook
Due to the predicted severe weather caused by Hurricane Irene, the Reading Buccaneers and the Big Sounds in Motion committee made the very difficult decision to cancel the competition set for Saturday, August 27, 2011 at Albright College in Reading. While this is ordinarily a rain or shine event,we had to consider the safety of all performers and spectators in making their way to and from Reading. Competing corps were traveling from North Carolina, Virginia, New Jersey and New York, all locations predicted to be heavily hit by the storm. Our fans come from wide distances as well. We hope you understand that while the decision to cancel the show was a difficult one, it was necessary. Big Sounds in Motion is one of the primary fundraisers for the Buccaneers and goes a long way to enable us to put the drum corps on the field. Cancellation of this fundraiser will have a negative financial impact on the Buccaneers organization. In spite of this, the safety of those attending and performing in the show was the primary concern in the decision to cancel. If you purchased tickets in advance and would like a refund, please send your tickets and a self-addressed stamped envelope to Big Sounds in Motion, 15 Sheep Hill Road, Fleetwood, PA 19522, by September 30, 2011. In lieu of a refund, if you'd like to donate a portion or the entire cost of your tickets to the Buccaneers, it would be greatly appreciated. Please advise us of your preference to donate by emailing us at bigsoundsinmotion@yahoo.com. Your donation would be tax deductible as the Reading Buccaneers, Inc. is a 501©(3) non-profit organization. Thank you for considering helping the Buccaneers in this way. We look forward to seeing you at Big Sounds in Motion in 2012, and appreciate your support of the drum corps activity and the Reading Buccaneers. Amy L. amysnook
Thank you. Although the ticket reads "No Refunds or Exchanges," a refund is the right thing to do after a catastrophic weather event cancels the show. We greatly appreciate those of you who are able to donate your ticket cost back to the Bucs, but understand that not everyone is able, or desires, to do so.
