LB Mellophone
Welcome to the 2011-2012 Legends of Drum Corps....Lots of great changes for this year. We are proud to announce the addition of Carol O'Brien as an additional conductor. Carol is a well-known and much experienced Drum Major who has directed many DCA drum corps. We are also pleased to announce our newest members to the instructional staff Gene O'Brien, John Bermudez and Buzzy Bergdoll - These fine gentlemen bring a wealth of experience and musical expertise to our corps. The music for the 2012 season will be "Children of Sanchez/Belavia"(as performed by the NorthStar) "Russian Christmas Music"(as performed by the Santa Clara Vanguard) "Danny Boy"(as performed by the 27'th Lancers). We will retain "Georgia/Ol Man River", "Pictures of Spain", and "Fire of Eternal Glory"(as a warm-up) from last year. REHEARSAL SCHEDULE: Beginning on October 7th, BRASS will rehearse once a month on the first Friday of each month. The new rehearsal times will be 7:45PM to 10:15PM. From May to August, we will move our rehearsal to the first Tuesday of each month so as not to intefere with any Alumni Corps activities. This new schedule will allow us to explore additional performance opportunities. With the addition of the new instrucional staff we will be able to stucture rehearsals to include both sectional and ensemble time with the ability to provide support to players of all ability levels. We will continue our Saturday afternoon full ensemble rehearsals and they will be scheduled on an as-needed basis. We are very excited and much looking forward to the 2012 season of The Legends. We have re-tooled hoping that we can make the Legends experience even more user-friendly, welcome players to come join the corps, and maybe also entice some of you out of retirement and into The Legends. Our permanent home is the Lt. Norman Prince VFW Post, 428 Main St. in Melrose, MA. The first brass rehearsal of the 2012 season is on Friday, Oct. 7th at 7:45PM. Please spread the word among your Drum Corps buddies, ALL ARE WELCOME regardless of whether you have been playing all along or haven't touched that horn or drum in ages, you are all more than welcome. As we enter our 15th season we hope to provide a means for you to experince great music, great friendships, and a Drum Corps that is as non-intrusive into your personal lives as possible, yet offering as high a level of perfomance experience as we can. Information on the rehearsal schedule is on our website at http://www.legendsofdrumcorps.org The e mail functionality of the website does not work.
