Tyler C.
A long, long time ago, the corps I marched in folded the night we were supposed to leave our hometown for DCI Finals. We had no time to react, no time to do anything but deal with it (and pile in a pick up truck to go to DCI to watch anyway!). There's not really any way to describe how bad it sucks to work that hard and get it all pulled out from under you. I sincerely hope that other corps will offer the members of Teal Sound (especially age-outs!) the opportunity to fill empty spots. They have the time that we didn't have to finish their summer on the field...and those empty spots would be much better off with a person in them! I thought this merited sharing here. I hope these kids can find a corps home for the season.
camel lips
I thought this merited sharing here. I hope these kids can find a corps home for the season. First let me preface by saying how sad I am for the kids that are on a bus coming home. I know first hand how it is to have your corps fold on you during mid season. It truly sucks. The opportunities are there for kids to find another corps. Its certainly not too late to join another DCI or DCA corps. But you have to wonder. 1. Will the kids heart be in it to move onto another corps? 2. Will the parents let them?? The first one is easy. If the kid has the heart and drive for this activity then yes I think they will find a new home. Convincing parents is NOT going to be as easy. Its pretty easy for me as a dad that is/has been involved in drum corps to understand how and why this happened. If this would have been my child my first obligation would be to get my child home safely then work with my child to see if they wanted to continue the season and then look for a new home for my child in drum corps. But to a parent that has not been involved in drum corps in their life...trusting ANOTHER corps with your child would be very hard. Its a bad situation no matter how you look at it. I wish these kids the best in the future. Edited July 10, 2012 by camel lips
Latrobe's Finest
This is a huge bummer for everyone involved. If there are Teal kids in the DC area, we would welcome them with open arms. I would hope that some DCI corps with openings would extend a hand too-corps like Pioneer have openings and would love to have the members. darfin
Tampa Bay Thunder DCA welcomes any and all members of Teal Sound looking to march this summer. In the words of our Corps director, we will make room!
