About Penn State Indoor Drumline

Penn State Indoor Drumline was founded in 1999. Starting with only a few individuals looking to keep up their drumming skills throughout the winter, this small group of players soon realized that Penn State and its collection of extremely talented musicians had something to offer the world of indoor marching percussion theatre. As the years progressed, the group acquired a diverse collection of players beyond just snare, tenor, bass, and cymbals. It added mallets and auxiliary percussion, and was soon performing at high schools in the indoor percussion circuits of Pennsylvania.

In 2004, PSID opened its membership to talented percussionists that were not from Penn State. This change along with the talents of the staff and performers have contributed to 13 years of award-winning seasons, including 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2009 WGI Percussion Independent Open Class Finalists, 1999 and 2006 WGI Percussion Independent Open Class Bronze Medalists; 2007 and 2008 WGI Percussion Independent Open Class Silver Medalists; 2000 and 2001 WGI Percussion University Class Champions and the 2000 WGI Percussion Independent Open Class Champions.
