The Kilties Drum and Bugle Corps are proud to announced their 2014 creative staff:

Mike Taylor, Program Coordinator

Mike Taylor, Kilties' Program Coordinator and Brass caption Head, is an accomplished brass player and teacher. Mike is a former a member of the North American cast of the Emmy and Tony award winning musical production, "Blast!" In addition to his key role as euphonium soloist on stage, Mike also performed on baritone and trombone. Mike has also performed as a Young Artist with Opera Illinois and as the principal euphonium for the both the Millikin University Wind Ensemble and the Southern Illinois University Wind Ensemble. Mike acquired his Bachelor's degree in Music from Millikin University and his Master's Degree in Audio Production at Southern Illinois University. He is currently is an adjunct faculty member at Columbia College in Chicago.

Rick Kirby, Brass Arranger

Rick is a music educator who has taught at numerous high schools and universities. He retired in 2001 to pursue a full-time career as a composer and arranger. A prolific composer and arranger, Rick has been involved in many commissioning projects including writing compositions for concert bands, jazz ensembles, choirs, orchestras and other ensembles. He presently directs the Waukesha Area Symphonic Band. He was also the associate conductor of the Youth Wind Orchestra of Wisconsin for seven years and directed the Carroll University Jazz Ensemble for ten years. Rick is the Wisconsin Music Educators Association’s 2002 recipient of the Distinguished Service Award. This award is given to a music educator for lifelong meritorious service, excellence and dedication to music education in Wisconsin. He is also the Phi Beta Mu (Wisconsin Chapter) Outstanding Band Director for 2007.

Andy Brady, Visual Designer/Coordinator

Andy provides consultation and design services throughout the U.S. and is well versed in music performance, visual technique, motivational speaking, choreography, and adjudication. He is a USBANDS and independent adjudicator. Andy has performed and recorded around the world including a recording session at the Montreux Jazz Festival, Switzerland. In addition to the various roles in the marching band/winter guard/judging arena Brady has marched with and instructed for world class drum corps. He has served as consultant and visual caption head with several drum and bugle corps and state champion bands. Andy holds a Bachelors degree (Magna ### Laude) in Visual Design with music and dance emphasis from the University of Wisconsin at Whitewater.

Beth Myers, Guard Designer

Beth is returning for the second year as the guard caption head and guard designer for the Kilties. Beth began marching at the age of nine and has over three decades of marching arts experience as a member and an instructor. Her marching experience includes the Guardsmen Drum and Bugle Corps, National Champion James B. Conant High School Band and the Kilties. She has over a decade of instructional experience in winter guard and field performance color guard arenas including, most recently, Fond du Lac Winter Guard, West Bend High School Color Guard and the Kilties. She also has served as clinician and currently serves on the board of the Midwest Color Guard Circuit. As a brass musician, Beth incorporates musicality into her work, often writing guard work equally from the musical score and recordings.

Jason K. Nitsch, Percussion Program Consultant

Jason was born September 20, 1977 and is a native of Houston, Texas. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from the Baylor University in Waco, TX and a Masters of Music in Music Education from Boston University. Mr.. Nitsch's commissions for concert band have been featured at the 2002, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2011 and 2012 Mid-West International Band and Orchestra Conventions in Chicago, Illinois. In 2010 he composed the original score for the film documentary “The Library of the Early Mind.” Additionally his music appears on various state prescribed music lists for public school band performance. His music has been performed across the United States, Europe, Australia and Canada. Jason is currently published with C. Alan Music Publishers, the FJH Music Company, Grand Mesa Music Publishers and TRN Music Publishers. His original compositions for marching band are published and distributed by Center X Music and David Herring Music. In 2009 he launched Suburban Zombie Music in order to promote and distribute his entire catalogue of compositions. Having served in the public schools of Texas since 2000, he is currently the Associate Director of Bands at Klein Collins High School in Spring, TX; having served in similar positions previously at Deer Park High School, Dulles Middle School and Lake Olympia Middle School. In 2012 he served as the Brass Caption Head of Forte Drum and Bugle Corps for the corps final season
