DCI is probably already taking or sharing a loss on this show. If they sell enough tickets to pay the corps everyone is happy.
Daave
Which begs the question for all of those type shows. Who pays for full panels when they are supposed to go into practice next season. Find the money or lose the show? Lose the show and corps lose a potential payday as they make their way across the country? Just thinking (typing) out loud. My internal monologues often become external diatribes

Once a corps leaves on tour the expenses don't stop so it is DCI's job to have as many paydays as possible for each corps. There is nothing that says that a current exhibition has to be a full panel show in 2019. DCI is only interested in getting as many paydays as possible weather it be via exhibitions, parades or competitive shows. In Midwest and East 4th of July is a huge payday for corps. Corps can make equal to three or four times their normal performance fee in one day. That appears not to be the case in the West. Exhibitions are here to stay for both World Class and Open Class.
