My husband and I are very concerned are we wasting out money to send our son to this drum corps. We both marched in DCI many years ago. Are other west coast corps have any openings. The Seattle Cascades appears to have recruiting issues and we want the best for our son. Concerned Parent BITD...The Boston Crusaders in 1983 had perhaps 50 total members and I think 18 brass and a dozen or so in the guard. Some of those Giant's are today still directly involved with the Crusader organization. Albeit in 1982, the corps' funds were embezzled, leaving members and staff stranded and financially insolvent in England. That said, this event obviously precipitated a poor recruiting year in 1983 for the corps. It's all about the experience IMO. It's not what place or how many members a corps has on its roster. This is the time to support as many corps as possible. You should talk to management and see what their plans are in fielding the corps. What are their challenges. How can you help them by get involved volunteering etc.
