El_Chestus
hello all...i have a question... the Thunderbirds are considering purchasing mounts and gock blocks for our bass drums and I was wondering what would be the best way to accomplish this... Input from those who have used a similar setup would be greatly appreciated. what mounts work the best? what maker of mounts is best? is there a "best"? thanks in advance for the input

BassX
I would definately check out LP's products. We've used the LP Percussion Claw successfully in the past - http://www.lpmusic.com/Product_Showcase/Cl...ssion_claw.html. It took awhile to figure out how to configure it to get the block mounted the way we wanted it, but once we did it was pretty dependable. I've also seen groups use the LP Sliding Bass Drum Mount - http://www.lpmusic.com/Product_Showcase/Cl...bass_mount.html I've never used it though so I don't know how well it works. Jason
Gibralter makes a bass drum high hat clamp which would probibaly work, but I've never used it myself. http://www.onlinerock.com/mf_store/drums/d...Hoop_446508.htm I use the claws quite a bit with my line but I haven't been able to figure out how to get the jam block to mout horizontaly using a claw. In order to mount the claw so it wont fall off the rim the jam block will either point up or down. Tristan
Try and contact someone in the madison scouts drumline to see how they did it. I'm not a huge fan of LP hardware personally, but see what you can find.
alexnielsen
We had some "crashers" or whatever they are called attached to our basses at the HS I teach this past season. We used these: http://www.lpmusic.com/Product_Showcase/Cl...um_cowbell.html Also by LP. The instrument you're talking about is not the same, but they probably mount the same way. They worked just fine.
El_Chestus
thanks so much for the input yall.....we at the present time are leaning toward LP gocks with a bar lug attachment to be able to mount them horizontally... however....the research continues and all of your input is greatly appreciated....thanks to all B)
