spcbrass
BD's trumpets were playing on CG3s and modified 3Cs when I saw them @ Precision West. The CG3 is the same mouthpiece that the sops played on when I marched in 1980! I never liked that mouthpiece, and was actually the only one who didn't play on one. Instead, I had a custom mouthpiece made to look like a CG3 on the "outside". ^0^ I thought they had changed them last year and again this year. I remember talking to Wayne about it in a bar one nite and he was discussing a different mpc last year. But if you say you saw them with your own eyes it must be true. Kanstul is the only company that makes teh cg3 anymore i do know that cause I was trying to track down a bunch for people. Also some of the upper elads do have a modified cg3, or at least they did back in my day 98-99. Shawn ^0^

Blaringbrass
Ok here is the mpc situation for the BD trumpets as emailed to me from John Meehan from the blue devils: leads upper and lower are playing on un-modified CG3's and the 2nd's and 3rd's are playing on 3c's. He also said there soon will be a new mouthpiece comming out aka Wayne Downey mpc and thats what they will be playing on (im assuming next season) but the cup design as weill as other dimentions will be the same. So there you have it.
DoubleHighEZ
Instead, I had a custom mouthpiece made to look like a CG3 on the "outside". Larrie what did they let you play on if it wasn't a CG3? Yeah i think Jeff Lynn isn't playing on a CG3 this year either, it looks kinda like a Bach mouthpiece or simmilar, but i could be way off. I played on a Burt Herrick custom made mouthpiece. Burt was "the man" when it came to making custom mouthpieces. Many studio musicians played on Burt's mouthpieces. It was a bit bigger than a CG3, with a 19 throat. BTW, I just love my Monette MFII w/the 19 throat. ^0^
