Galen
The Genesis Drum and Bugle Corps of Burlington VT is pleased to announce its official inception and plans to compete in the newly formed DCPA circuit this spring. Our 2005 spring program, "The Rogue's Gallery" might as well be called "root for the bad guys", as it is a musical and visual showcase of heros and antiheros that magnetically attract your sympathy and adoration. Genesis comes off the line with the theme from Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. Famous from Southwind's 1992 program, this piece showcases the hornline and establishes the overall gallant and heroic theme for the show. The ballad, Mark Knopfler's "Storybook Love" from The Princess Bride, again features the hornline in a sweeping musical tale of passion and romance. Not to be outdone, the percussion and color guard get their opportunity to shine in an arrangement of "La Donna Mobile" that is as brash and arrogant as Verdi's Duke Montova himself. The show concludes with a look at some of the "bad guys" that we can't help but love, with an arrangement of Pirates of the Caribbean, followed by the well-known "Conquest" theme from Captain from Castille. We hope you enjoy the "genesis" of Genesis in our initial season!
